Hi Bob I have found the family of James Griffiths and Jane ? in the 1841-1881 censuses. Jane gives age and place of birth as follows 1841 30 (rounded down) Pembrokeshire; 1851 41 Rhoscrowther; 8161 52 Pembroke (short for Pembrokeshire); 1871 55 Castlemartin and 1881 age 67 no place of birth given. By searching FreeBMD for two years either side of 1840 I have found the following marriages of a James Griffiths in Pembroke Registration District 1839 Mar Pembroke 26 729 Jane Walters 1841 Dec Pembroke 26 951 Jane Griffiths The census was taken on 6th June 1841 but the 1841 marriage still might be them . I think the first one more likely and it would be worth checking marriage registers for Rhoscrother, Castlemamrtin and Pembroke St. Michael for the period Jan-March 1839 to establish if it took place in any of them as that would establish that you have the righ t Jane. There is also for James Griffith the following 1841 Sep Pembroke 26 781 Jane Harris You could ask Pembroke Record Office to do these for you if no one on the list has any information.
