Dear Robert, In the 1813-37 Pemb. marriages a possible is William Richards of Carew married Elizabeth Jones at St. Florence 29/10/1814. He may have moved to Pembroke St. Mary later. In the Castlemartin Hundred records a William Richard married 1786 at Pembroke St. Michael; and William Richards married 1781 St. Florence; 1781 Pembroke St. Mary; 1807 Rhoscrowther, and 1809 Pembroke St. Michael........(this Hundred includes Pembroke St. Mary). Unfortunately the records I have do not include the names of their brides, but someone else may be able to tell you if there are Elizabeths shown. Richard Rose's Pemb. People book indicates that, coincidentally, a William Richard X St. Mary's married Elizabeth Jones at St. Michaels 7/1/1786 which no doubt refers to the first Castlemartin record. They had a son William baptised at St. Michaels 8/10/1786. There is also a reference to a William Richards being Constable of St. Mary's 1795-1800 and males of that name witnessing several weddings. In Castlemartin Hundred David Shears married 1713 at Pembroke St. Mary; George Shears married 1804 at St. Florence; and William Shears married 1800 at Pembroke St. Mary and 1811 at St. Florence. I think you were looking for Rebecca Shears at Steynton........A Timothy SHEA married Mary Hoar at Steynton in 1766...one has to look at all possibilities and if you pronounce the name She/a it could be mistaken for Shear. In other Rhos Hundred records Benjamin Shears in 1716 at Haverfordwest St. Mary married Ann Hopkens and in 1751 Joseph Shears of Haverfordwest St. Mary married Esther Sayce. A John SHEER(?) in 1721 at Haverfordwest St. Thomas married Letice DAVIES(?)...with all the question marks, this must be a difficult entry to read. In the female records, in 1753 at Haverfordwest St. Thomas Martha SHEARES married Andrew Mackdonnald; in 1721 at Haverfordwest St. Thomas Mary Shears married William Fortune ....(the Fortune name is often associated with the Quakers, so that avenue might be worth investigating) and Mary Shears in 1734 at Haverfordwest St. Mary married Thomas Swynny. There are also a couple of records for females with the surname Sears and Seers in the early 1700's. Bettye Kirkwood, Australia. ----- Original Message ----- From: "robertgascoigne" <robertgascoigne@cox.net> To: "Dyfed Family History" <DYFED@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 02, 2009 5:41 AM Subject: [Dyfed] William Richard of Pembroke St Mary > Hello List > > I am seeking clarification on Who William Richards married beside's > Rebecca Shears .
