My Thanks for the many Comments on the above subject. The Correct Title of the Letters "U.K;"is The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland". Such a Mouthful I agree! So Its Either "G.B;or U.K;" It wasn't so long ago either that Monmouthshire was regarded as being in England Proper! There are many Tales of young Gents taking Cycle Rides from Cardiff to St;Mellons on a Sunday. As in those Days,Wales was "Dry"on a sunday! Which Meant that you Couldn't get an Alcholic Drink from a public House on a sunday as they didn't open Period. But Over the Border in Monmouthshire they WERE Open on Sundays. I think it was either 1972 or 1974 that Monmouthshire Came into Wales all Proper like Offically? My Late Grandmother Liking a tipple herself,Used to take me over to Yeovil in Somerset on a Sunday Excursion Train when I was a Kid,to visit her two sons who lived there. The Advantage being, they lived right next door to a pub! The Original Swan Hotel in Fact,In Yeovil. Cheers,Graham. -- Graham Williams.of Canton,Cardiff. Chairman,"Canton Historical Society".
