    3. Dear Cardiganshire/Carmarthen Listers.   This query isn't quite historic yet, but historic enough to be last century.   In March 1947 a train (or several trains if one counts the rescue attempts) were marooned on the Derry Ormond - Llangybi - Llanio line from Carmarthen to Aberystwyth.   Does anyone have memories of the big snow in 1947 - or who had family members involved in the rescue, or who were marooned on the train. If so please do contact me off-list.   Does anyone know or have any of the following in their families (all from Aberystwyth I think, but not sure about Driver Phillips and Fireman Lucas. I am especially interested in Ms Harries, the "lady guard" on the train marooned in a snowdrift / or marooned in Lampeter.  Versions of the adventure vary.   Driver R. 0. Williams Penparciau Fireman,E. T. Hughes, Penparciau Lady guard Gladys Harries, then of South Road, Aber.   Driver William James and Fireman A. T. C Evans  - rescue attempt train Driver J. Phillips and Fireman T W. Lucas – second rescue attempt train   [Info above from Cambrian News, and Welsh Gazette]   Apparently, according to a ballad written in the 1970s, the stranded passengers played cards and sang hymns ....    Thanks   Jen
