Hi John and Allen, Is there a possibility that this is the St Dogwells Pembrokeshire which I believe is near Sealeyham House(where the dogs of that name were bred) There is a small church there and I am unsure if it is still in use. Hi Yvonne The 1871 census is definitely a mis-transcribed "St Dogmells"; The residential location is Bridgend (the bit of St Dogmaels nearest the bridge to Cardigan) and there are large numbers of residents also described as being born in St Dogmells. There is of course the possibility that these individuals really should have been recorded as being native of St Dogwells, and in this instance Ancestry have, by mistake, named the right place of birth in their transcription, but I rather doubt it; it is rather a long shot.
