G'Day from Aus, I am descended from William COLDSTREAM and Martha LEWIS who were married 15 Oct 1751 in Dale, Pembrokeshire. Following is the complete file of my Coldstream family. The bdm's were generously gathered for me by a resident who lives in Dale and responded to a newspaper advertisment I sent out when I could not find another way of locating information. I think she was refering to St.David's but unfortunately she never mention the source other than saying it was from the local Church register. Does anyone know which Church she would have been referring to? My earliest record as yet is the marriage of William Coldstream to Martha LEWIS, 15 October 1751 in Dale, Pembrokeshire, Wales. There is a house by the name of Coldstream Lodge still standing in the village. Children include: Elinor, b:28 February 1753, m.Thomas BAKER, (b:Woodhorn, Northumberland); m:8 February 1794 in Dale. Martha, b:June 1754. Charles, b:18 May 1756, d.1834; m.Frances SUMMERS of Haverford West, d.1834. Isabella, b:31 May 1758; d:10 May 1810, Bristol; m.Francis HARRIS (b:21 March 1758 in Bristol) m.19 May 1783 in Dale and moved to Bristol, GLO. My ancestors. Margaret, b:March 1760. William, b:30 March 1762. John, b:14 July 1764. Andrew, b: date unknown; d:10 October 1768. Andrew's information was not on the Church records but from a gravestone in the Church yard. The last date on record is from the records of Francis Green which records the will of Charles Coldstream, 1834 and later correspondence. Amongst it is mention of the following persons as being related to the Coldstream family: Sister of the name, Mrs.GOUGH and her dau, Martha JONES. Sister of the name, Mrs.COLE and her dau, Mrs.ROBINSON. Lieut.DENHAM R.N. on the Coast Surveying Service of Liverpool. Later mentioned as SIR Henry Denham, mentioned 1868 and later again as Admiral in 1869. Annesley Denham, son of Sir Henry, mentioned 1869 as being appointed Senior Lieut. of the "REVENGE" at Pembroke. Later mentioned as being in Calcutta. Henry Mangles Denham, 21 Carlton rd, Maidavale, LON. Isabella Denham, deceased. (mentioned 1869). Charles Henry Denham, his son is a civil engineer at Hourah, Calcutta. Charles Gepp ROBINSON of 12 Warwick rd, Maidavale, LON. Later mentioned as Admiral Robinson in 1869. Eleanor Robinson. Charles Geo.Robinson. Property mentioned: Farms by the name of Rippeston & Monkhill. Bridge End, Haverfordwest. Pullfine Estate. In the writings of my 2xgrt grandmother, a grandaughter of Isabella Harris nee Coldstream, she mentions: Capt.Charles Coldstream (at whose home at Dale...), he married Frances SUMMERS of Haverfordwest, (whose brothers were clergymen). Elizabeth married a Mr.GOUGH of Cardiganshire (of whom I know little.) Ellen, who married Rev.Joseph GALE of Carmarthen and had two daughters, Isabella & Ellen.... Isabella married Lieut. (now Admiral) Sir Henry Mangles DENHAM, (who is presently living at 21 Carlton Rd, Kilburn). They had 5 children: Emily who married Capt.MANGLES (who was wounded at Balaclava and served in Crimea); Louie & Sophie; Lizzie who married a Parsee Merchant of Calcutta; Charles, an engineer in India, and Annesley, Commander of a Gunboat. (Admiral DENHAM spent many years in the South Pacific...he took with him his youngest son, Fleetwood, who died at sea...He is buried at a little island, I think "Sunday Is.") Ellen married Lieut. (afterwards Rear Admiral) Charles ROBINSON...They had 10 children, five of whom died in infancy. Only one girl survived, Julia, who married Sir John Craven Carden BALL, of the Priory, Templemore. Coldstream was a Captain in the Navy. Harry & Wellesly were twin brothers, Harry was a cadet on board the "Tiger" at the time of the Crimean War, (was taken prisoner by the Russians...Admiral Robinson wrote to Duke Constantin...etc... Harry was delivered home safely.) He is now Commander Harry Robinson. Wellesley is in the Commissariat Dept. in India. Heaton went to India some years ago...returned home ill..died leaving a wife and 3 children. Any assistance as to the best place to search or contact with other researchers whose work may connect will be verily appreciated, I thank you in advance, Michelle Kahler, Nth Ipswich, Qld Aust.
