    3. Dear Michelle, Like many others, apparently, preparing for Christmas and family to be in residence.......spared a few minutes to read your message. Elizabeth, Mrs. Gough. There is a Will for an Elizabeth Gough proved at Llandyssul, Cards. in 1820 and a Martha Gough in 1838....also Thomas Gough in 1797. Looking these up on The National Library internet site, might prove interesting for you. In Major Francis Jones "Historic Cardiganshire Homes and Their Families" page 114...Ffoshelyg, Llandysul "By 25 November, 1791, Thomas Gough late of Haverfordwest, is described as "of Ffoshelyg" and in 1798 a Martha Gough is referred to as a widow living at the property. The Tithe Map of 1841 names Rees Thomas as the owner-occupier of Ffoshelyg, a holding of 232 acres." In the Wills index are Jevan Griffith ap Rees Gough, Llandissill 1628 Evan John Y Gove, Llandissill, Cards. 1628 Griffith ap Gove, Llandissiliogogo 1632 Now, I don't know a great deal about Cardiganshire, but over the years I've been intrigued by Y Gove and ap Gove........wondering if this actually means that the person named was son of the local Blacksmith, or perhaps Y Gove means of a certain place named Gove. As far as I am aware Llandysul and Llandissiliogogo are totally different areas, but do these three early Wills refer to the same place? Did the name Gough evolve from Gove...and was the family ancestor a Blacksmith? Unlike me, other Listers might be totally Christmas-oganised, and would like to discuss these items.
