Hello List - I assume its because everyone is trying to get ready for Christmas that there are so few new messages. So, I will take advantage of the lull and post a query. A cousin recently found a marriage between Richard Allen and Dorothy Jones at Llanstadwell, 24 Mar 1765. They were married by license. They had children: Jane bpt. 29 Jul 1769; Diana bpt. 27 Spr 1774 at Llanstadwell; John bapt 28 Jun 1888, and Elenor bapt. 06 Mar 1789, maybe at St. Mary's. Dorothy was buried 17 Sep 1807, and Richard 22 Dec 1811. Were there other children? Any clues to the ancestry of the parents? Any info. greatly appreciated. A Jones? Yikes!!! Lynne in Tucson

Dear Lynne, A 1765 marriage may show witness names on the parish register marriage entry......should be available for purchase from Pemb. Records Office at Haverfordwest. It is only a guess that these marriages may have some bearing: Thomas Allen in 1739 married Lettice Harries at Llanstadwell in 1739 Richard Jones 1741 married Martha Thomas at Llanstadwell Llanstadwell may have been the bride's parish only, however, and the groom may have come from elsewhere. Unfortunately Wills don't seem to provide much help for these particular males.. There is one listed for a Catherine Allen proved at Llanstadwell in 1769 and further back in time, a David Allen proved at Llanstadwell 1610...now that you can look them up direct for The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth on the internet, it is easy to check whether they provide any clues to your line.
