Hi Mike and Listers, A thought has struck me - could the name be "Nuet" or "Nute" and because of the Pembrokeshire dialect become "Noott" I Looked up Nuet names found the following: A modern face-book user by the name of Nuet who was Spanish 1851 Census Cornwall had a family named "Nuet" or "Nute" The lady was a pauper born Devon and her children born Cornwall. She was a widow. However this census name does not appear to be of English derivation so could be Continental. The census enumerator could not decide how to spell this name.
