    3. Hi all, can anyone suggest a likely candidate for a village described as "Kimwell, Carmarthen" in the 1861 census please? The entry is for the family of Thomas Mitchel and his family who are living in Glyncorrwg, Glam and the village is given as the place of birth of his wife circa 1829. Her name is Ada/Adah/Adelaide Mitchel (Nee Walters) -- Cheers Peter

    3. Hello Peter, One possible village is Cynwyl Elfed anglicised into Conwil Elfed. Elfed was a Welsh congregationalist minister from that area. Conwil Elfed is west of Carmarthen and about 7 miles from Newcastle Emlyn Best wishes Yvonne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter.thomas" <peter.thomas@nidum.plus.com> To: <dyfed@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 11:45 AM Subject: [Dyfed] Place name in Carms > Hi all, can anyone suggest a likely candidate for a village described as > "Kimwell, Carmarthen" in the 1861 census please? > > The entry is for the family of Thomas Mitchel and his family who are > living in Glyncorrwg, Glam and the village is given as the place of > birth of his wife circa 1829. 3. Hi Peter On the basis that it was supposed to be town/parish & county on the census, what about Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire ? http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CMN/Kidwelly/index.html You'll probably need to look at the original source, unless another census entry is available.
