    3. Dear Andy This is a tricky one. I presume you have seen James Jenkins in the 1841 living with George and Susanna Jenkins and family at Tanners Row, Prendergast. James is shown as a Smith and aged 25 and as you know the 1841 rounded adult ages down to the nearest 5 or 0. 1851 we see James now married to Ann living Main Street, Prendergast, with children Thomas, Elizabeth and Susanna. James is shown as a Smith and born in Uzmaston, Haverfordwest, while Ann and the children are shown as born in Prendergast. James is now aged 37 and Ann is 38. So if that is correct then she was born around 1813 not 1821. Back to 1841 looking at all the Ann Bowen's in the area in that year. I see a 25 year old Ann working as a female servant in Gloucester Terrace, Haverfordwest St Martins for a Margaret Phillips and family. Looking at all the Bowen's in Prendergast in 1841, I find a 65 year old Elizabeth Bowen living at the Kilns. She was a lodging house keeper. There were only lodgers at home on census day. There was also a John and Mary Bowen living in Prendergast, John 65 and Mary 70. There was a 9 year old Mary Bowen working as a servant for Thomas Lewis the Grocer in Prendergast and lastly there was a tailor named Thomas Bowen aged 25 in the house of George James also a tailor. I have looked at all the William Bowens that were in Pembrokeshire on the 1841 census and none of them have an occupation which even slightly relates to the one you say your William had. I am not sure if it will help but as James and Ann called their first daughter Elizabeth, a William Bowen married a Elizabeth Banner in Prendergast in 1793. There is also a William Bowen marrying a Anne Ridgard in 1804 in Prendergast. I hope the above will at least give you something to think about.
