    1. [Dyfed] For Robert Gascogine ~ Elizabeth Evans nee’ Thomas nee’ (?)
    2. Bob, Parish Chest(B-G) have kindly forwarded your email in which you ask me about the status of Elizabeth Thomas at the birth of her son George prior to her mrge to John Evans and the birth of Casear J. Evans. I presume this has something to do with a previous posting on the Digest, therefore have answered here in case it helps others to assist your research. I believe the 1871 census answers your query in full and perhaps asks another question ; 1871 Census Waterston Llanstadwell John Thomas H M 59 (word u/r) Cooper Pembrokeshire Elizabeth Thomas W M 32 – Pembrokeshire Thomas Thomas S U 12 – Pembrokeshire George Thomas S U 18months – Pembrokeshire In fact in my view there are grounds of age to suggest that Elizabeth had been married previous to her mrge to John Thomas. I note the deaths ; John Thomas Pembroke Reg Dist 3rd Qtr 1874 aged 61 John Thomas Pembroke Reg Dist 3rd Qtr 1874 aged 63 There are only 3 mrge’s that equate to your requirements between 1871 and 1876, 2 in Carmarthen and 1 in Pembroke Registration District, that of 3rd Qtr of 1875 John Evans to Elizabeth Thomas. Purchase of their mrge certificate will also confirm Elizabeth as single or widow. I believe John Evans is the son of Benjamin and Mary Evans of Llanstadwell. I am away Tuesday for a few days, researching the Oriel surname in Paris and doing Pembrokeshire Military Research in Northern France. I trust the above is of some assistance or helps others to assist your research. Rgds Owen V. ORIEL a welsh window on a surname 2009: A year in review - http://www.tiscali.co.uk/2009
