Dear All, The gentleman from Switzerland was delighted at all our findings re Edward Harries. However he believes Edward Harries was born at Llandysilio in 1797. This birth is not mentioned on IGI, but on it, I have found a birth record at Haverfordwest 1803 on the same page as his marriage to his wife Elizabeth Hart. I should be very grateful if one of the listers could find a birth record that would definitely relate to him. Many thanks Yvonne
Hi again Yvonne! The CCED extractions stop at 1835. This date was set because from that point details are available in the annually published Clergy List and, from 1858, Crockford's Clerical Directory. Of more use to you, however, would be the ordination papers for Edward Harries, held in the National Library of Wales. As late as the 19th century these should be complete for St David's. Typically these papers give details of ordination sponsors, education etc and, possibly of more interest to you, would give details of baptism (obviously a requirement for ordination), parents etc. There will be two sets, one for Edwards ordination as Deacon 21 Sep 1822 and the other for his ordination to the priesthood 11 Oct 1823. I may well be in the NLW within the next couple of weeks and, if you haven't obtained everything you need by then, I could dig out these ordination papers.
