Hi Moni It looks to me like Rhyd y frynnu, though I can't find that on a modern map. It's also diffcult to make it out from the enumerator's walk since he seems to have wandered about a bit. However he is definitely at the south eastern end of Quarter bach, somewhere near Ystradown. There was a colliery at nearby Brynhenllys, opened in 1792 - see http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/adsdata/cbaresrep/pdf/079/07903007.pdf Hope this helps Anna At 18/01/2010 13:41 U+0000, A Spell In Time wrote: >Hi everyone > >I'm hoping that someone can help with deciphering a place name in the parish >of Llangadog in the 1841 census. > >My Edward Mainwaring was recorded as Edward Manry, working as a collier in >the parish of Llangadock, I can't make out his address properly.
