Dear Meg, A William Jones married Mary Griffiths of St. Mary, Pembroke at Pembroke St. Michael on 11/07/1823...from Pemb. 1813-37 marriages index. A John Griffiths in 1799 at Llandewi Velfrey married Martha Rees from pre-1813 marriage records .......married in the Narberth Hundred, which includes Jeffreston. I can not be sure that either of these couples are the correct ones....but they are the only marriages I found in which the names matched. If you purchased copies of the two parish register marriage entries from Pembrokeshire Records Office, Haverfordwest, then you may be able to obtain names of witnesses and widen your search to see if the witnesses appear to be relatives. Jones and Griffiths...you could not search for more common names, unfortunately! At Jeffreston ....... Alexander Griffiths 1785 married Anne Browne Joseph Griffiths 1789 m. Mary Moy Thomas Griffiths 1789 m. Mary Hughs Thomas Griffiths 1792 m. Esther Lewis Thomas Griffiths 1793 m. Ann Thomas William Griffiths 1794 m. Elizabeth Richards As folks often married in the bride's parish, it is debatable as to whether any of these were related to John Griffiths. He may have been living and working away from his birthplace. At Llandewi Velfrey a David Griffiths 1778 married Martha Davies. He may or may not be related to John, and there are a couple of Griffiths males married there in earlier years. If John GRIFFITH and a Martha were Mary's parents, then their marriage (in the same Hundred) might be between John Griffith and Martha Phillip 1789 Llandewi Velfrey John Griffith 1790 at Begelly married Martha Davies John Griffith 1790 at Carew married Martha Palmer This all must be very confusing, but there may be something here to which you can relate. The correct date of the marriage seems to be 11.3.1823 and the details of the entry are: William Jones m. Mary Griffiths, St Mary's, at St Michael's 11.3.1823. Minister, Charles Philipps, vicar. Witnesses, John Griffiths, George Froyne [the Parish Clerk]. I hope this helps. Dear Richard, Thank you.....(Meg, I did make an error when writing down the month). This information will save Meg from purchasing the parish register entry, unless she wishes to see if John Griffiths signed......if he did, then you will be able to identify the "s" on the end of the surname.....and also find out if the bride and groom could write, or signed with a mark.
