    3. Dear Carol, Your original request was for the parents and SIBLINGS of the Batine girl who married into the James line, and I think I have virtually covered as much as is necessary about the Batine line itself and the parents, Thomas Batine and Elizabeth Williams, though there is more on Elizabeth Williams' ancestry if you want it. Now I wish to deal with Bridget Batine who married on 29th. July, 1828 John Williams of Velindre, Llanwnda. He was born c. 1801 and died aged 68 in 1869..and dear Dyflisters, I am later going to need some help with this. First of all.....from notes I'd made years ago, according to one of Major Jones articles (and I don't recall which article.....must search)....... a JOHN WILLIAMS OF VELINDRE, Llanwnda was born 6th. April, 1721 and died 3 April, 1803 and had a daughter named Sarah. Under "Felindre, Llanwnda in Caroline Charles Jones Extended version of Major Jones ' Historic Pembrokeshire Homes & Their Families' " .......By 1623 Felindre was in the possession of Hugh Lewis and Agnes his wife and in 1630 he mortgaged for 200 pounds to Jenkin Gwyn of Jordanston, 'the capital messuage,y distinct messuages, called Velindre in the parishes of Llanwnda and St. Nicholas and other landes in these parishes'. In 1638 Thomas Hughes of Velindre was suing William Griffith for stealing "a red horse".....(wonder if this was an ancestor of the Llanwnwr line?) Again in 1702 there were legal tussles over land when WILLIAM JOHN of Velindre was involved with others in court battles with Sir William Wogan over land. William John, husbandman, whose Will was proved 11 February, 1715, had married an unknown Margaret to whom he had five sons, Thomas, William, Edward, David and John and a daughter Lettice. Felindre was part of the estate of Tucker of Sealyham in 1752, the Voters' Lists of 1894 show Levi Hughes living there. There are a large number of references given, and I have not looked at the 1715 Will, but to my way of thinking, because of the dates displayed, William John, the husbandman, is quite possibly the grandfather of JOHN WILLIAMS OF VELINDRE BORN 6TH. APRIL, 1721. Of course, some of the brothers may have adopted John as their surname and some may have taken Williams....and unless a Lister has more positive information, I will presume that the line of interest to Carol begins with John Williams, and I will keep in mind the possiblity his father was one of the sons of William John. Bettye Kirkwood, Australia. Thomas, William, Edward, David and John, and a daughte Lettice. Felindre was part of the estate of Tyucker
