    3. Dear Andy,   Its not my particular area, but I have found these two, one of which may be the one you seek.   Mount Zion Congregational Chapel, West Hook, Llangwm some photos here: http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/11076/images/MOUNT+ZION+CONGREGATIONAL+CHAPEL%2C+WEST+HOOK%3BSALEM/ (Mount Zion Congregational Chapel was built in 1852 and restored in 1926. The present chapel, dated 1852, is built in the Simple Round-Headed style with a gable-entry plan)   Coflein also has mention of a "HOOK GOSPEL MISSION, WEST HOOK" as does Genuki. No photos on Coflein, but here is a link http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/11730/details/HOOK+GOSPEL+MISSION%2C+WEST+HOOK/   Jen     From: Andy Philpin <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, 26 April 2012, 12:16 Subject: [Dyfed] (Pembs) Hook Independent Chapel Dear All, I was just wondering if anybody has come across Hook Independent Chapel in the course of their research? 3. Hi List and Eliz and Lynne, I expect that he was a day labourer as you state Eliz. I am puzzled though also, and I am wondering what would be the attaction to emigrate to USA as a day labourer? - but perhaps being a day labourer in USA was far preferable to being one in rural Wales? However this particular John George could have escaped from scandal in his native Pembrokeshire i.e. he may be the father of an illegitimate son (born Pembrokeshire 1834) who was my great grandfather. Were the 200 dollars savings he had brought with him from Wales? 3. Yvonne - I would suggest "Day Labourer" but don't know this for sure. You could do a search on Google of occupations listed on the 1860 census. Or you could look at others on the census to see what they have listed for occupation. You may find something similar. 3. Lynne, Troedyraur and Bettws Evan alias Ifan are in the Hundred of Troedyraur, Cardiganshire. Have not checked, but I believe that the other properties mentioned, are either in the above parishes, or in the parishes of Brongwyn or Penbryn, in the same hundred. I recognise, all the place names, but as you say the more information given, the easier it is to provide the requested information, and in my, and many other list members, the greater the chance of "striking a chord" and making a connection. Those of you with Haverfordwest or even Pembrokeshire connections, especially those with the surname Voyle in their family history will find it particularly interesting. 3. HOT Diggity dog, Graboid has the series. <G> I use Graboid to get Time Team mostly but they have EastEnders and all sorts of programs. So <G> if you have something you like on the Genealogy or "life of" line if you would be kind enough to share it <G> Graboid is not free (although I think you can download some content for free) it runs between 9.99US a month to 19.99 for unlimited downloads and 29 for movies (lordy on my dialup that would take a day!) I have found Old China Beach episodes and new US and UK tele and Australian WDYTYA. 3. I have visited them personally - and could get what I wanted with no cost. But that may be because I edited an article at short notice for them in 1998 and had dinner with them in 2007. It does have all of Francis Jones jottings - so it is a lucky dip. But he did have a lot of jottings! I would send an email first asking the size of the file. The worst that can happen is they refuse to look.
