Dear List, I have found the Wills at NLW because I typed in "Rowland" rather than "Rowlands" Many thanks for your interest Yvonne Evans

Hi Yvonne! In view of our previous correspondence I assume that you are referring to the famous preacher, the Rev Daniel Rowlands. I don't have details of his will but from my ecclesiastical extractions for the Clergy of the Church of England database I have details of his ordination and appointments if you don't have these already. Yvonne, Try "Rowland" without the "s" on NLW's search page. The final "s" comes and goes with many surnames. It often depends on the writer, or the phase of the moon, ... Always worth trying a few spelling variations or a stem search such as "Rowland*". This will throw up Nathaniel Rowland of Parke, Henllan Amgoed (SD/1831/79) - a will with 6 images. There is also an administration for Daniel Rowland of Gwnnws (SD1792/53) who may be yours, granted to his widow, Margaret Edward. Good luck Simon Carter [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "yvonne evans" <[email protected]> To: "Dyfed List" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2012 4:17 PM Subject: [Dyfed] Wills of Daniel Rowlands and Nathaniel Rowlands > Dear List, > > I am unable to find Will of Daniel Rowlands Llangeithio died 1790 nor the > will of his son Nathaniel Rowlands of Parke Henllan Amgoed > Carmarthenshire who died 1831. Find my Past have now released a second batch of parish registers, which do include Pembrokeshire. If you go to the news releases dated 26 June there is a link to a pdf file telling which parishes and from when to when. But don't believe the hype about the completeness of the records - because they are not; or indeed the numbers of records claimed. However most of the new ones added do have the a link to the actual register. In my "excitement" this morning I forgot to limit my search for Gambolds to Pembrokeshire, and lo and behold there in Amlwch, Anglesey is the burial in 1776 of the wife of Capt Gambold, who was in the Customs Service, was from Cardigan, and until 1776 was posted to Beaumaris. So you can find some new things! Megan

I think the other thing to remember that Ancestry has - is the majority of the London and Middlesex parish registers online. As about one-sixth of the population has always lived in London, and it has survived by in-migration, we all have London ancestors or relations - but could never find them. FindMyPast will pick up the Westminster Archives collection, and British Origins has other useful information - but there is a mass of ancillary information going online too: Settlement Examinations; Workhouse Records, etc. This is truly changing everything about how you do research. And that is before you start to appreciate the $14 million dollars Ancestry are rumoured to have spent on autosomal DNA testing. But hardly anyone in the UK has heard of autosomal DNA testing (yet). But next week I am off to the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition for this: http://sse.royalsociety.org/2012/exhibits/genetic-maps/ Brian -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jonathan Pike Sent: 23 May 2012 22:46 To: Dai & Angela Bevan; dyfed Subject: Re: [Dyfed] Ancestry Probate records The other new record on Ancestry is a large collection of poll books and electoral registers. From what I can see the only one relevant to South West Wales is the poll book for the Carmarthenshire election of 1754. The book gives the names of the voters, the location of the freehold property which entitled them to vote and their place of residence. The 1722 Carmarthenshire poll book is already online at http://carmarthenshirehistorian.org/ Enter "pollbook" into the search box. Hello list, Who can find my Thomas Lloyd in the 1891 census at 11 Parrot Row, Blaina? Is his widow there in 1901 or 1911? His deathrecord was signed by the depoty coroner Monmouthshire, so there must have been an accident. He died June 17th 1900. Elwyn.

I'm afraid he doesn't have a memorial. Best wishes, Delyth
Hi I wonder if a very kind person who has access to the monumental inscriptions for Eglwys Newydd would be prepared to help by checking to see if there's a gravestone for a child by the name of Joseph Jenkins aged 5 who died in 1865 ?I believe that he was the Joseph listed on the 1861 census as being the grandson of John and Catherine Morgan/s Gilfachyrhiw (or Rhew ) Cwmystwyth . If my memory serves me right ,there is a gravestone for the Morgans' in the churchyard ,It's such a long time ago that I was able to visit . Many thanks once again Buddug Hollett
Hello list, Am trying to find more on my Welsh ancestors from Llanelly, who went to S-Africa in 1911, but up to now without result. William Henry Roberts, born 17-4-1880 married Annie Morris, b 1880 in Llanelly in 1903. Couple had two children, Edward Roberts born 11-04-1904 and Olwen Roberts born 14-06-1907. William's unmarried brother David John Roberts, born 15-11-1873. Have a photo of them taken at Pretoria. Was told that W.H.Roberts died in SA and that the family came back to Wales. Not sure about the children. They left Wales in 1911. Possibly returned to Cardiff when back in Wales. Hope somebody has some tips to find them. Elwyn - netherlands.
Hi Robert, I might be able to help as my family are from Llangwm. My Grandad lived at 6 Main Street opposite the Jones who used to run the Post Office there in the early 70's. The son Barry was a friend of my dad's. If this is the right family let me know? Hi Megan Coroner's Records for the early period do not exist only a Register with a list of death's reported, when and where, inquests held and where and verdict. This dates from 1886 and is held at Haverfordwest Record Office Ref T/CR-1. You may view the first book but the early part of the second book is covered by the 75 year rule. It is possible to ask the archivist to look for you and to let you have details of any inquests up to 1936. The Pembrokeshire Record Office catalogue is available on http://records.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/calmview/ However as this all too late for you it might be worth looking to see if there is any report in local newspapers - Pembrokeshire Herald (available from 1844)and Tenby & Pembroke Dock Observer (from 1853) The former covered Haverfordwest but at that early date there is little local news although you may be lucky. Kind regards Joy
