HI.... This came from the GREER listing that I belong to.... Thought it might be of interest to some about the free searches of the UMI obit Thanks..... kaite.... For the next week, Ancestry is offering free searches of the database of UMI obituaries, 1990-1997. A search for "Greer" yields 1820 hits. There's no way I can see to limit a text search, so one gets obits where the person died/lived in Greer SC, the funeral was conducted by Rev. Greer, or the funeral home was Greer-Smith. However, when the obit has a true Greer listing, the info can be astonishing. They are, of course, recent deaths, genealogically speaking, but may help find cousins.
