Hello DYESS cousins.... I know I have been quiet for a few days... but... trying to catch my breath... First of all...we had a wonderful and successful DYESS family reunion, May 1st and May 2nd... Out of the SIX Dyess brothers (Barnwell, SC).... There were FOUR lines represented at the reunion. The fifth line, Don Marler, has been in contact with (The Thomas Dyess line)... and... they will be here next year. The other line, John Dyess, I don't have a contact for them. Do any of you have a John Dyess contact ???????? I think they settled from SC down to Fla.... Chuck Dyess (George Dyess line) from Georgia brought his notebook computer and he was the STAR of the reunion. People gathered around him and he would put their information in and then would tell them how they were connected......A lot of interest!!!! Friday night, we had about 17 people present. Eveyone brought their material and pictures and we shared back and forth.... There was a lady there from the William Dyess line whose GG Grandmother, Elizabeth Dyess, is also the GG grandmother of George Jones. She has interviewed George Jones.... The one that got the prize for attending for being the fartherest away was Pricillia McCormick from AZ!!!!! SHe is from the Henry Dyess line. We loved her and she loved us!!!! First time we ever met her and her husband. The reunion will be the 1st Saturday in May in 1999....So...please start making plans to attend. The highlight of Saturday was a tour of Uncle Elbert Dyess' museum. Everyone who went really enjoyed it and was impressed at the creativity of this 86 year old man.... Later on this week I will start putting together email addresses that I have and the families that they belong to. That way.. you will have a listing of who is who and can communicate with each other... John Dyess (Christopher Dyess line) was there from Arkansas. He was impressed about the number of DYESS people in one place.... He said it was unusual for them to have that many DYESS people... W. Dan Dyess (an attorney from Natchitoches, La) was there (Christopher Dyess line).... Oh, yes...Saturday at the reunion, we estimated about 150 people present!!!! Stayed tuned.....
