Levy County, Florida Marriage Index, 1854-1888 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Thomas Parker, twparker@sprynet.com ===== In an attempt to provide clearer insight into family ties of Levy County settlers, the following list of marriages has been compiled. The gap between the formation of the county, in 1845, and the earliest recorded marriages, in 1854, leaves much to be desired; however, many of the early records have been found in Alachua and Marion Counties. This is especially true of the residents of the Eastern section of Levy County since this part was actually a part of Alachua and/or Marion Counties for many years after Levy County was formed. Names have been copied as nearly as possible as they appear on the marriage licenses. In some cases, names have been recorded differently in the marriage record books. This applies to dates, also. Furthermore, some of the ministers merely signed the licenses and returned them to the courthouse without denoting the actual date of the marriage ceremony. An asterisk (*) has been placed by the date where only the date of the Issuance of the license is indicated. Now, relax and enjoy meeting many of those early settlers who laid the foundation for us to enjoy life in Levy County. written by: Kathryn P.
