Hi, Debie, TN, and DYESS Cousins Thank you for posting this information to the list. I will visit the site today, looking for Hester BRYAN-Robert DYAS (any spelling) marriage in that area around 1823, and Suzie Imazinda HOLLAND-Robert DYAS/DICE (any spelling) marriage around 1869. While at that site, I will also check to see if early newspapers are available for that area. Do any of you Tennessee cousins know of available early newspapers for the Nashville area? I would like to see if my grandfather J.F. DIES, the ventriloquist, was named in an article there. Thank you very much. Good Morning.... This is a DYESS descendant..... Here is an aritcle from this morning's Alexandria Daily Town Talk: TWO MORE SHOT TO DEATH IN VERNON Apparent murder-suicide comes one day after slayings By Jeff Conrad Staff reporter SOAPSTONE----One day after two people were shot to death near New Llano, Vernon Parish sheriff's deputies were investigating two more shooting deaths Friday, these in the Soapstone community near Pitkin. The Soapstone deaths are believed to be a murder-suicide. The New Llano slayins are believed to be related, although a suspect has only been charged in only one of the killings. Around 8:50 a.m. Friday, deputies discovered the bodies of BELEA F. MARICLE, 44 and DONALD L. WILSON, 58, at their home on I. Maddox Road in the Soapstone community, southeast of Pitkin. Ms. Maricle was shot several times, and WILSON died from a single gunshot wound to the head, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office. A preliminary investigation shows Wilson shot Ms. Maricle after a domestic disturbance before turning the gun on himself, Chief Deputy Louis Magee said. Magee said a neighbor found the bodies after becoming concerned when he did not see Ms. Maricle or Wilson on Thursday. Wilson and Ms. Maricle were pronounced dead at the scene by Assistant Coroner Jerry Jeane. The bodies were sent to Lake Charles for autopsies. (Note the rest of the article pertains to other killings....not related to the WILSON - MARICLE deaths...) How the DYESS is related..... I. John Dyess and Violator ________ II. George W. HI... I'm trying to find where Thomas D. Dyess, his wife (Nancy Jenkins Dyess), and two of their children are buried.... I have the following information: Thomas D. Dyess was born 1812 in Georgia. His wife, Nancy Jenkins was born 1817 in Georgia. They were married in Stewart County, Georgia, November 10, 1836. THOMAS D. DYESS and NANCY JENKINS settled in Cherokee County near Rusk, Texas about 1865, and in 1868, he, his wfe and two youngest children, M. C. Dyess and Alvey G. Dyess, died within 24 hours of each other. I have found a Cheokee County website (which is good) but...does not give any information about cemetaries... Does anyone have information on where these people might be buried??? Thanks!!! kaite...
