    3. Hello all, I have found at the OHS, a new source, I think, for the father of Odard, in addition to Dugdale's Monasticon Anglicum, but since I have no way to check this "new" source, I really don't know!!! Anyway, I am pretty excited, since this is the first time I have seen this in print. See the new source cited at the end of this quote. Collin, Arthur, Esq., The Peerage of England, Third Edition, Vol. IV, London, XDCCLVI. pp382-386. "This family is faid to be lineally defcended from (a) Ivon, Vifcount of Conftantine in Normandy, who married Emme, daughter of Allan Earl of Britagne, by whom he had fix fons, Nigel, Baron of Halton, and Conftable of Chefter, of whom defcended the Barons of Halton; 2. Hudard de Dutton, of whom defcended the family of Dutton in Com. Ceftr.; 3. Wolfath, anceftor to the prefent Lord Hatton, of whom I am to treat; 4. Wolmer; 5. Horfwyn; 6. Edward. Wolfath, third fon, was Lord of Hatton by the gift of Hugh Lupus [d'Avranches] Earl of Chefter; and was fucceeded by Robert his fon and heir, who, by Margaret his wife, daugher of Gilbert Crifpin, had iffue Sir Adam Hatton, of Hatton, Knt. whofe fon Sir Geffery Hatton, Knt. married a daughter of...." the genealogy goes onward with sons and with daughters marrying Venables and Vernons. (a) Ex Stemmate in Seager's Baronage, MS. Interestingly, these families were all from the Cotentin area of Lower Normandy; Bretagne was West of the Cotentin. Nigel, vicomte of the Cotentin, led by Guy of Burgundy, had rebelled against Duke William, along with many others of Lower Normandy, but the rebels were defeated at the battle of Val-és Dunes in 1047 and their fortresses had been destroyed. This was a battle for the leadership of Normandy. Nigel was forced into exile with his family in Bretagne, but was restored to nearly all his possessions by 1054.
