I suppose I should try to tell you about the Duttons which I have been working on also. These Duttons, I presume, descend from the early Thomas Dutton in Sussex Co., DE. This Thomas Dutton was present in Sussex Co., DE., at least as early as 1750 when he was given a power of attorney from James Reed to sell land in Sussex Co., DE. The names of this Thomas Dutton's wife and children are not known to me but some of his descendants must include the Jesse Dutton who was born about 1763. Jesse's first wife was Nelly Virden and his second wife was Eunice Reynolds, widow of Jacob Pettit. This Jesse came with his children and others in about 1833-1834 to Marion Co., OH., where he died in 1835. His wife Eunice survived him. Jesse's children include: Manlove, Mary Dutton, Jesse, Jr., C. Amelia, Josiah S., George B., and Virden Dutton and maybe others who have not yet been identified. Amongst these children: Manlove came to Pickaway Co., OH., in the early 1800s. Mary married a Messick and died before 1834 but where is not known to me. Jesse, Jr., came to Marion Co., OH., about the same time his father did. C. Amelia first married Kendall Wilson and married second to Eliel Long and came to Marion Co., OH., about the same time her father did. Josiah S. and George B. about to leave Delaware about the same time their father did but I haven't found them again until 1860 and at that time they are in Delaware Co., IA. Virden seems to have come to Marion Co., OH., about the same time as his father but by 1850, he is in Wabash Co., IN., where he died about 1851. His wife and children leave Wabash Co., IN., shortly after 1860 and go to Neosho Co., KS. Also in Marion Co., OH., about the same time (1833-1834) is a David Dutton who does not seem to be a son of the elder Jesse Dutton but seems to be somehow related (b. DE) and associated with the same allied families. This David could be a nephew or some other relative of the elder Jesse. Johnita
