Hi Curt, Bob, and everyone else, 3) Kingsman was the fourth child of John and was a member of the Chichester/Upland Friends (which I think was set off from the Concord Monthly Meeting (MM)). Although trained for the religious profession, he was disowned for marriage out of unity (dis mou) 5 mo 4 1737 (Cope:p.43). This means that he could not take part in church affairs, but he could still attend meeting and was not outcast socially. Anne joined the meeting in 1748. Couples who married out of unity often "came to their senses" and requested to be reinstated about ten years later (per Jerry Richmond, Quaker authority). Question: Was Kingsman reinstated as a member? Did they raise their children in the Quaker faith? Who are their other children? 4) David, son of Kingsman, was born abt 1756 in PA. In 1777 he married Hannah Rogers. Question: Since he was born after his mother became a Friend, is his birth recorded in the Meeting minutes? Are there other children beside David and Francis? Was David a member of the Chichester meeting? What is David's actual birthdate? New stuff. ------------------- David and his wife Hannah were received as members of the Hopewell Friends on 11 Jul 1803. [Note: membership was not transferred from a previous MM) His daughters, Susanna (22 yrs old) and Mary (20 yrs old), were received as members of the Hopewell Friends on 12 Jul 1807. On 12 May 1811, Mary (Dutton) Larry was disowned for marrying contrary to discipline (dis mcd). On 9 May 1822, Susanna (Dutton) Cowarden was dis for mcd. On 1 Jun 1831, David Dutton was granted a certificate from Hopewell MM to Short Creek MM in Ohio. David died 13 Oct 1836 and Hannah died 14 Nov 1837 both were bu as Friends at Harrisville, OH. (Will further check this out this weekend) Also, on 21 Oct 1772, Samuel Dutton was recorded as a witness at the marriage of Thomas Ellis and Margaret Rees in Berkeley County, VA. Questions: WHO IS SAMUEL DUTTON? He is not a son of David as he is not listed in his will! Is he a son of Kingsman? There is no other Dutton information in the minutes of the Hopewell MM. I am indexing the Short Creek MM minutes, births, marriages, and deaths and putting them online--address below. I am visiting this Quaker meeting this weekend. And am waiting on information regarding Kingsman. Berkeley co was part of Frederick co, VA, early on. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ohquakers/ caroole. oops--Carike, no Carole
