Hello all! Some time ago I learned that there was a Dutton Genealogy printed in "The American Genealogist" which critiqued the Dutton pedigree developed by A. R. Justice. Justice had the PA Duttons descending from Sir Piers Dutton, which of course was incorrect, and proved incorrect by the author Charles M. Hansen. This is not a very good article overall because Hansen made up, I say "created," a second wife for the father of PA John based on some very flimsy speculation. BUT he did have some other good information regarding primary sources (YEA!!). One of them was a will from Mary Renny of Manchester who was PA John's grandmother. You can read an edited version of what Hansen had to say about this will (removed the conjecture about a first wife) and I give the reference for the article if anyone wants to explore this further. But I think that this provides more evidence that we are descended fromthe Cheshire gentry (which Hansen believes he has disproven). http://www.genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/Renny_will.htm Also, have published a little story about PA John Dutton at address below: http://www.genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/john_pa.htm Comments and criticisms are welcome. I can take it--I'm a Dutton! :-)) Carole
