Are there any other Duttons on this list whose families have *not* been in the United States since the 1700s? My great-grandfather, Samuel DUTTON was born 2/2/1879 in Chester, England and died (presumably on Long Island) 11/16/1947. One brother (William DUTTON), also born in England, moved to Toronto as a young man. They had 12 other siblings, of whom I know nothing about. Their parents were John DUTTON (born in Chester) and Mary GRIFFITHS (born in Wales). A look at the Cheshire census records of 1881 (courtesy of my local LDS office) shows that there are two two-year old Samuel Duttons with parents John and Mary. It figures. One Samuel was born and living in Burland, the other was born in Barrow and living in Cholmondeston at the time. But neither of them were born in Chester. Hmmm. (By the way - Samuel married Florence REDDEN, born 8/3/1892 in Toms River, New Jersey. Her parents were Thomas REDDEN and Rosalyn HAWKINS) Well anyway, if I'm related to any of you it seems like it's probably distantly. Peter Dutton
