Hi Colin!! So nice to hear from you....sounds like you've moved up to a "Rolls Royce" computer!! I LOVE your idea.....can't wait!! The DUTTON FAMILY is a terrific INTERNATIONAL family of "cousins" and a meeting such as this one is a marvelous way to meet each other. >>>a get-together in the summer of this Millennium year to meet as a family, visit various places of interest in Cheshire and England in general, to celebrate our heritage and our distant but definate ancestry and if nothing else, to have a good time getting to know each other. That says it all....bravo! ><>>>> It was thought that we may like to try to hold a Jacobean Banquet as near to Midsummer's Day (Saturday 24th June) as possible and if possible to hold it down in East Grinstead at Stoke Newington School which is made up of parts of the original Dutton Hall. Oh yes, we DEFINITELY have to do that....and at E.Grinstead would be great.....but do you mean AT the school itself?? Are they able to host an event such as that?? Food and minstrels and other merriment?? <g> (Or is their focus---mainly school situations??) YOUR QUESTIONS and my answers! 1) If you are interested in a family get-together over here in Cheshire this summer, please raise a hand (just joking), please let me know how many would be in your party and approximate age groups etc.? YES, definitely interested. Just me.....My hubby has absolutely no interest in ANYbodys family! He'd rather watch paint dry!! 2) Would you be requiring assistance from over here in finding your accommodation? YES.....I'm not good at that.....and you know all the nice places. Nothing fancy required. 3) Do you have any preferences in places that you would like to visit? Well, yes, the original Dutton land....churches.....graveyards......the Sherborne locations and any other family-connected places. ----and maybe a whizz thru London on our way to E.Grinstead?? 4) Do you know where Cheshire is? I've studied every map I could get my hands on.....but that's not like BEING THERE! 5) Do you have any suggestions as to what other things you would like to do? Yes, I have a very old friend in Accrington I'd like to have lunch with.....and maybe a side trip to Salisbury and Stonehenge since I have another family connection in that area - who lived at Chettle House, Dorset... I believe it's open to the public and has lovely gardens. But I also could add an EXTRA day or two onto my trip to do those things myself. (If I can rent a car....and if you'll give me a quick lesson in driving on the wrong side of the road!! AWK! (Do I need a special drivers license to do that??) 6) Suggested start and finish dates and length of stay etc.? I'm keeping the entire month of JUNE open......YOU pick it!! Can you gauge how many days it would take to see the interesting Duttons-related places?? How's the English weather in June??? If there's enough of us....would it be wise to rent some sort of tour bus??? You know, let somebody ELSE drive!!) >>>>>Well, moving on. I have spoken on several occassions to young Byron Hadley, This may be one of the most interesting facets of the trip......I'm fascinated by this whole turn of events. Hope this helps. WHATEVER you figure out for us.....I'm sure it will be a delight! So keep in touch with the developing plans. I don't want to miss a thing! Phyllis just north of Atlanta
