    3. Following entry is from The Domesday Book, edited by Thomas Hinde, 1987, ISBN 0-09-161830-4 DUTTON (Duntune) - William FitzNigel; Edward the pre-conquest holder, from Osbern FitzTezzo; Odard from Earl Hugh. Hawk's Eyrie. All lands belonged to the king and Earl Hugh d'Avranches held it for the king. The remainder of the listed were ' under-tenants'. William FitzNigel had one farm/estate. Edward (whoever) had another from before the conquest that he got from Osbern FitzTezzo and he still held it at Domesday. Odard was holding the land in 1086 that he had received from Earl Hugh. Someone, probably Odard, raised hawks in Duntune based on the reference to the eyrie (aeyrie), which, by definition, is "a loftily placed nest of certain birds of prey, as the eagle".
