Thanks for the information. There are several theories on Odard's ancestors only one of which I have on my site. There is another in Leycester's which I plan to pass on to everyone shortly. Also, Doug Hall posted another one several weeks back. Speaking of Royalty, we Duttons are also direct descendents of Hugh Capet, king of France in the 9th century. This line is through Muriel le Despenser who married Hugh Dutton(4th generation from Odard). I got this from an undocumented web site so take it for what it is worth. Muriel was also great aunt and great great aunt to the two Hugh le Despensers (father and son) who, through their close ties to Edward II, met with an untimely death at the hands of Queen Isabella and Roger Mortimer, closely followed by Edward II himself. There is even a painting of the torture of Hugh le Despenser, which you can find on the web. > -----Original Message----- > From: Carole Malisiak [mailto:malisiak@midohio.net] > Sent: Tuesday, June 30, 1998 6:51 PM > To: DUTTON-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Wm the Conqueror's Sister > > > Hi Curt, > I've been over to the Hull Royal Genealogical Database trying to find > descendents of Wm. the Conqueror and connections to Odard through the > Count of Eu (which I have not found).
