    3. Hi Curt, No, he did not include the entire will, just the parts that I quoted and he did not say where it physically is located other than the reference "Cheshire Original Wills, 1660." "Thomas was born Overton, 3rd 3m [May] 1679." Register, Society of Friends, Quarterly Meeting of Cheshire and Staffordshire, 1648-1783 PRO film at FHL in Salt Lake city, pp.13-16. It would have been great if he gave the film number like Phyllis does when she finds something!!!!! http://www.genealogy.dutton.net/gen5_penn.htm Absolutely must go to work and bring home the bacon. Talk to you later, Carole _____________________ Curt Rowe wrote: > > Great find Carole. I didn't expect to find any data for that period. 3. Great find Carole. I didn't expect to find any data for that period. Did Hansen include the entire will in the article or did he state where it is? Given that Mary gave the bulk of her estate to John, I would think he was the oldest son. I have a birth date of 1647 for Thomas, but I don't know where I got it from. It's interesting that it mentions a 'shope'. I wonder if that meant she ran a business. > -----Original Message----- > From: Carole Dutton Malisiak [mailto:malisiak@midohio.net] > Sent: Monday, March 22, 1999 9:36 PM > To: DUTTON-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: PA John's Inheritance > > > Hello all! > > Some time ago I learned that there was a Dutton Genealogy printed in > "The American Genealogist" which critiqued the Dutton pedigree developed > by A. 1. Isaac Dutton, Son of Francis Dutton
    2. James Dutton
    3. Hi, Phyllis, I read the message from Dick Dutton to Sheila Dutton concerning Isaac Dutton and more specifically, his father, Francis Dutton and his mother, Lydia Booth. According to the Cope book on page 54, Francis Dutton (No. 48) married as his second wife, a Lydia Booth, and they had two children: Francis (No. 114), a cooper Jacob (No. 115), a farmer Both Francis and Jacob probably resided in the neighborhood of Shepherdstown, Belmont County, Ohio. Cope further states that it has been said that there was another child, whose daughter was the wife of John Green of that place. Could the Isaac Dutton, born 23 Sep 1798, in Virginia, be the unknown third child of the Francis Dutton and Lydia Booth that is referred to in the Cope book in the last paragraph on page 54? It would certainly seem that he was one and the same. Jim Dutton

    3. Hello Sheila - Nice to meet you. Yes, you gave me just enough information to link up your line to the main DUTTON tree. I had Isaac b. 23 Sep 1798 and some of his descendants but no descendants for Isaac Booth. You will find a Family Group Report for Isaac's family at the end of this message. Isaac is my 9th cousin 4 times removed (9C4R). That should make you my 13th cousin and this a VERY good day. I would rather find one new living cousin any day than 100 dead ones! If you have not subscribed to the DUTTON -L Roots List which is dedicated to the research and dissemination of the DUTTON surname you really should. There are about 150 of us there where we help one another and exchange data. You will probably notice I got the info on Isaac's family & descendants from Phyllis Ryerse. She would be a much closer cousin to you than I. That was from both of us meeting on the List. I can tell you how to subscribe (it's free) if you wish. Dick Dutton Researching my family tree! 3. Carole, I really appreciate and applaud your fine work! You will be a worthy successor to Cope! I have read your two essays mentioned below and fine them extraordinarily well done. I especially like your citation of sources for what you have been able to put together. The inclusion of the sources is especially important. Too few web-published genealogies do that and your attention to this detail is exemplary. It helps everyone evaluate the credence that can be given to your information. It will also help future generations of genealogists! Just think how great it would be for all of us if Lawton, the creator of the "Dutton chart" had included detailed citations of the sources of each piece of information for each person he placed on that chart! 3. Hello all! Some time ago I learned that there was a Dutton Genealogy printed in "The American Genealogist" which critiqued the Dutton pedigree developed by A. R. Justice. Justice had the PA Duttons descending from Sir Piers Dutton, which of course was incorrect, and proved incorrect by the author Charles M. Hansen. This is not a very good article overall because Hansen made up, I say "created," a second wife for the father of PA John based on some very flimsy speculation. BUT he did have some other good information regarding primary sources (YEA!!). One of them was a will from Mary Renny of Manchester who was PA John's grandmother. You can read an edited version of what Hansen had to say about this will (removed the conjecture about a first wife) and I give the reference for the article if anyone wants to explore this further. But I think that this provides more evidence that we are descended fromthe Cheshire gentry (which Hansen believes he has disproven). http://www.genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/Renny_will.htm Also, have published a little story about PA John Dutton at address below: http://www.genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/john_pa.htm Comments and criticisms are welcome. 1. DUTTONs of Dutton chart.
    2. Dick Dutton
    3. I think I have good news for most if not all of those interested in obtaining "THE chart." I can still send one to those in the US & Canada for $10.00 each and can include additional copies in the same mailing tube for an additional $4.00 each. The postage and mailing tube cost more than the print in these quantities. I now have requests for 40 copies. We will wait a bit longer so those that subscribe in digest mode can get in on the action. I have not had any printed yet as it's a one time deal at these prices. For the ones going to England, Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea the cost has to be $14.00 and would have been considerably more if I had not found out about the much lower "Small Package Rate" - which we JUST qualify for - the combined length plus twice the diameter limit is 42 inches. The only potential disadvantage is a "Small Package" cannot be insured, which in our case is no problem. They still go Air Mail and, of coarse, I must fill out a customs declaration. I still need mailing addresses for: Darrell Martin - I know you are in exile in Addison, IL but suspect the PO will want more. Dixie Markum Sam I'll keep you posted. Dick Dutton Richard A. 1. DUTTON chart.
    2. Dick Dutton
    3. WOW! I never anticipated so much interest in the chart after sending out 32 the last time. At this point I will digress a moment to suggest that Mike Dunton take a well deserved bow for the tremendous service he has provided our family(s) by starting up and continuing this List. We can "Blame" much of the recent successful research and dissemination of the data to our "Cousins" worldwide on him. I therefore bestow upon him my personal "ATTABOY" award - Thanks Mike! BTW, how many subscribers do we have now? Now back to business. So far I have received requests for 27 charts. I still need mailing addresses from: Sam Larry Beldin Karen Davis Sowards Mary Ellen Kelchner Milton Froggatt And, while I'm sure I have addresses somewhere for the following, it would save me a lot of hunting if they would just send them again: Carole Dutton Malisiak Darrell A. Martin I have intentionally not YET sent my mailing address because some eager and honest souls sometimes jump the gun and send money and even I don't know the cost yet. The price is going down as more requests come in and, of coarse, the ones going overseas will cost more due to postage. I send them "At Cost." My guesstimate for the ones within the US is $10 -$15. For you folks outside the USA, the only practical war to send money is to go to your bank and buy a check payable in $US. For goodness sake do not send a check or any other instrument payable in any currency other than US - The bank charges and collection fees would have me owing them money. As a last resort you can just send US "green backs." I'll keep the List informed as to the progress. Happy Hunting! Dick Dutton
