    1. My Master File.
    2. Dick Dutton
    3. Hi to all my dear cousins, DUTTONs, DUNTONs & Zachariah DUTTONs (proved and potential). The bad news is that I have been diagnosed with MDS, a rare but fatal disorder of the bone marrow. There is no cure and no real treatment. In the short time since the diagnoses the disease has already progressed to full blown Leukemia. I start on chemo Monday but the outlook is not good. SO BE IT! Other than the obvious, my main problem is that I have no family member or close personal friend interested in genealogy or DUTTON Heritage. To try to assure that all the work that I have put into this project is not lost and wasted I have uploaded my entire master list of 249,430 connected individuals to the RootsWeb's WorldConnect Program. Of those 249,430 individuals, 34,466 are blood relatives. This file can be found at: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=dickdutton Feel free to use this data in any responsible manner to try to connect all our cousins worldwide. The data is not perfect. The only data I can personally guarantee is my direct line from me to Thomas Sr. (abt 1619/1622-1687). Most of the rest is a compilation of data researched and documented by a large number of very fine genealogists. The areas of known and obvious problems are in the medieval times from data derived from the LDS Ancestral File - so Beware! Carole Dutton Malisiak probably has a better handle on this area of our distant heritage than anyone else I know. Now, for those of you who have been long standing supporters and contributors to my efforts (you know who you are) I have the following offer - a personal gedcom of my master file. Zipped the gedcom is 10,250 K. If you would like a copy, send the request directly to me at: rad@emcst.com Requests posted to the List will be ignored. If you use one of the cheap ISP's (such as Juno) that refuses to accept attachments, don't bother to ask. We'll just have to see what happens the first time I try to send an attachment that size to an AOL address. Also you need to be sure your genealogy program is capable of importing a 249,430 gedcom. I've heard bad things along these lines about Family Tree Maker for Windows. Requests will be filled as health and time permit. Happy Hunting Gang, Dick Dutton

The will you need is in a safe onboard the Titanic b. You finally find the wedding record for your gggrandfather only to discover he married Mary SMITH whose father was John SMITH and mother was Mary JONES! c. You have finally found the information you needed to solve the family mystery you have been working on for 2 years and your elderly aunt says "I could have told you that!" d. You find an old family photo album and upon close examination, there are no names on the pictures. e. You learn that your great grandmother's family bible (passed down through the family for 3 generations) was sold at an estate sale in New York City. f. You find your family in the census and write to the county where they lived for 40 years, only to receive a letter stating all the county records burned. g. You learn there is a county history on microfilm of the county your ancestors originated. It has 16000 pages and is not indexed. h. The public ceremony in which your distinguished ancestor participated and at which the platform collapsed under him, turned out to be a hanging.

John and Sariah had four children - Mary, Jeremiah born in DE in 1828; John Green or John Creen, and Charlotte who married a Maxwell. I do not know their births. I would suspect that Sarah and Green Dutton ages 4 and 11 are related, but have no other data. Some of the 1850 census records are starting to appear on the net. 3. Good afternoon to the DUTTON list members, I have the subject THOMAS DUTTON with the dubious honor of having two wives at the same time. I show that THOMAS was born September 11, 1646, in Reading, MA, a son of THOMAS and SUSANNA (PALMER) DUTTON. He married REBECCA DRAPER January 1, 1678/79, daughter of THOMAS and REBECCA (BRABROOK) DRAPER. He also managed to marry, on the same date, REBECCA BRABROOK, a daughter of JOHN and ELIZABETH (Surname Unknown) BRABROOK. Obviously, one of the marriages is incorrect. If anyone on the list has any information that they are willing to share on which REBECCA was THOMAS' wife, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rick in Thailand

    3. Dutton list, I was just nosing around today on http://genforum.fammilytreemaker.com and thought I would try a global search for some names. Odard was one I tried. I found Odard I de Logis (born about 1099). This was from a lineage for a Kirkbride family name. Odard's son was Adam I of Wigton. I have no clue where that or Logis might or be. I didn't realize it was such a popular name. They're everywhere. Ron

    2. Hello Duttons, I am the brother of Ron Dutton who started this last round of questions regarding a King Dutton. There is a quandry regarding Kingsman Dutton and his wives but I would like to throw back out the original question Ron had when this all started. This is regarding the 19th Century and not the 18th Century. We have a possible King Dutton in our direct lineage. King W. Dutton is listed on the 1850 Athens County, Canaan Twshp. census. He was 7yrs old. We believe he may be a brother of or 3Great Grandfather Enos Dutton and son of out 4Great Grandfather William, who had died prior to this census. They moved from Athens Ohio sometime in the 1850's since they are listed in Iowa in the 1860's. If I find anything in my research regarding a Kingsman Dutton I will post but any information anyone can provide regarding King W. Dutton and his father would be appreciated, especially if it is William Dutton. Thanks, Andy Dutton

    3. Hello All!! By the kindness of Leo van de Pas who provided this information on Gen-Med, we have learned more connections for the Dutton family; however, we will have to look up dates ourselves. I think that the citation would look something like this: Pas, Leo van de. "The Ancestors of Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales." in Gen-Medieval-L@rootsweb.com, Subject line: "Randall Brereton." 2 Nov 1999. 3. Hi Bob, Curt, Karen, and all, I have been out-of-town all week and arrived home yesterday, so, I am just catching up on my mail. It looks like the data shows that the 1759 Kingsman Dutton is not the same Kingsman as the one who married Anne Routh, 1736-7. He could be a son of the 1736-7 Kingsman, who amazingly has only two children that Cope felt comfortable enough to report. I think it is more likely that there were other children. The birthdate of Kingsman, 1759, goes along with that of David, b. abt 1756 (Cope:p.49). Even though Kingsman (1736-7) was found to be "no member of our religious society," Anne became a member in 1748; thus, Kingsman may have been reaccepted into the society. I have a Belmont County friend who has offered to look up my Kingsman Dutton's on the Hinshaw CD. I hope she finds something helpful! I will let you know when she writes back. This is quite a mystery! We just have too many wives for Kingsman Dutton! 1. Copies of Cope's Book
    2. Hi Dutton Cousins, Does anyone know of a source that will duplicate a copy of Gilbert Cope's book, "Genealogy of the Dutton Family of Pennsylvania?" By this I mean a copy that is better than borrowing a book and going to the local duplicating store. Does the Library of Congress have a service that will duplicate its books? If so what is the quality? I was able to have a nice, hard bound copy made many years ago by a company that no longer provides this service. Since this book is frequently referred to in e-mail messages, I am sure many would like a copy. Bob Dutton

    3. As far as I know, the Athens County Duttons were all descendants of Kingsman Dutton (1759-1837) and Mary Craig. My mother's family lived there until the 1970's. In addition to Samuel's recollections I have a documented marriage for Kingsman Dutton and Ruth Watson on 27 Dec 1756 at Old Swedes Church, Wilmington, Delaware. Other than the marriage I have no other primary documents. I do, however, put a lot of faith in Samuel's ability to remember his grandfather, although with all those Kingsman/Kinsmans he may have confused the recorder. I suppose it's possible that there may be a missing generation such that Kingsman (married 1756) is an unknown son of Kingsman (ca. 1711-1765) born right after their marriage. OK 9 months after. That would have been 1737 so he would have been 20 in 1756. I'm sure there is some sort of connection given the uniqueness of the name Kingsman. 1. Kingsman DUTTON'S Wives (descendant of John and Mary (DARLINGTON) DUTTON
    2. The following is an extension and correction of my earlier e-mail on the same subject. I feel more information is in order. Comments concerning information indicating that Kingsman DUTTON'S first married Anne ROUTH (1736) and then married Ruth WATSON (1756), who according to some information was 45 years old at the time and later bore five childdren, the last when she was 53 years old. According to the probate records of Chester County, PA., Kingsman DUTTON, who died in 1765, died without a will, but the County provided me with the following probate records of Kingsman's estate: 1. A Common Bond, dated 29th July 1765 (this is a correction from the 20th), signed by Anne DUTTON, Francis ROUTH, and Humphrey JOHNSON. A Francis ROUTH was Anne's father, but this may be another relative. This was a bond of 200 Pounds for the administration by Anne DUTTON for a true and perfect inventory of the property and credits of Kingsman DUTTON, due one year later (29th July 1966). 2. A True Inventory, dated 16th August 1765, signed by Richard DUTTON and Jonathan RICHARDS. This listed a total value of 77.17.10 Pounds for 31 items of Kingsman DUTTON"ss estate property, including a book of debts. 3. An Accompl (the exact spelling), dated 22 March 1768, signed by Anne DUTTON and one other. This is an accounting of Anne's payments on behalf of Kingsman DUTTON'S estate. The total value was 77.17.10 Pounds, including 24 payments to others, a retention of 14.5.5 Pounds for a "Widows thirds" (presumably by the wife and widow, Anne DUTTON), and a balance of 3.10.10 Pounds. There was an unusual payment of 24 Pounds "By Maintain of School of 2? Younger Children". Kingsman and Anne DUTTON'S two children were 10 and 11 when Kingsman died. Cope states that Kingsman DUTTON'S estate was sold by the Sheriff in 1768. There was no mention of Ruth WATSON or her five children by Kingsman DUTTON anywhere in these probate records These records indicate Kingsman's wife, Anne DUTTON, was the bonded administrator of Kingsman's estate. This seems to indicated that Kingsman was still married to his first wife, Anne (ROUTH) DUTTON, when he died in 1765. The LDS records indicate Kingsman died in 1765 and his wife, Anne, died in 1774. Cope indicates Kingsman died in 1765, and his wife, Anne, was still living in 1774. These records seem to completely discount a second wife for this Kingsman DUTTON, whose first wife was Anne Routh. Curt Rowe (curtrowe@ix.netcom.com) indicated in his e-mail of 10/29/99 that there were other KINGSMANS and KINSMANS in Athens County, Ohio. Maybe the second wife, Ruth WATSON and children, attributed to this Kingsman (whose first wife was Anne ROUTH), was the wife of another Kingsman DUTTON from Athens County, Ohio. Curt, in your e-mail of 8/28/88, was the Samuel DUTTON you mentioned that dictated a document stating that Kingsman DUTTON married a Ruth (not Mary as in my previous e-mail 11/1/99) WATSON a descendant of PA John and Mary (DARLINGTON) DUTTON, or could he have been a descendant of the Athens County, Ohio DUTTONS? Curt, my previous e-mail did not reach you directly because I had a typo in the address. But you received a copy through DUTTON-L@rootsweb.com. Any comments, anyone? Bob Dutton Bob Dutton
