If you are, I checked the links that I sent and they work (sometimes my links don't work!), so, I was wondering if you are using a popular, "graphical" web browser like Netscape or Explorer? Other than maybe not having a compatible browser, I would have no idea why the links wouldn't take you there. : (( Maybe someone else on this list would know what the difficulty is!!! Carole

    3. Hello!! I have attached links to my pages that have the stories of the Counts of Eu from Van Houts' book "Gesta Normannorum Ducum of Jumiéges et al" if anyone is intersted in them. There is still another William ( III ) and a Henry to sort out yet. William III seems to have stayed in Normandy and was also a rebellious Count. Haven't figured this all out as yet. Jumiéges gives very nice genealogies of a lot of folks, but not the Counts of Eu. http://genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/williamI.htm http://genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/williamII.htm http://genealogy.dutton.net/gen_perspect/robert.htm Carole

Sue's tree is pretty complete - and huge. Enjoy. Please let us know about your family tree. I use Family Tree Maker 5.0 also. Take care and welcome. 2. Thank you so much for the Family Group Report. We are hopefully going to visit the old Dutton cemetery in Hardin co., IL in the next few weeks where Abner and Elizabeth are buried (although as I understand it only Elizabeth has a stone). Asahel and Lydia are my husband's 4G grandparents. I had gotten the name and spelling of Asael from someone in Hardin co. I was corresponding with regarding the cemeteries. Again, thanks for the help! Kristi

    3. Hey Guys, I checked out this Wadard and he was a tenet of the Bishop of Bayeux and was, if I recall correctly, only one of three people to have their name embroidered on the Bayeux tapestry. I found his Doomsday Book entry somewhere on the internet. Oh Well! Looked exciting late last night! Looked a lot like Hodard to me. :-)) Carole

According to the American Heritage Dictionary a rubric is: "A part of a manuscript or book, such as a title, heading, or initial letter, that appears in decorative red lettering or is otherwise distinguished from the rest of the text." Rubricate means: "To arrange, write, or print as a rubric". Dick

    3. Hi - I've been in contact with a number of my cousins for a while now (Laurie Spandorf, Pat Swift, and others). Randy saw an old msg I had left on the lsit some time back. I have the trees back to Jeremiah and I've noted that several cousins are 'working' on the connections bet. Jeremiah and others. I have an unexplained notation in an old family album that Jeremiah was somehow related to Zachariah (unk which) but such a notation proves nothing. Thank you very much for your couteous response. As you say, undoubtedly we are related but..... Take care and thank you again. Walter L Dutton Richard A. & Jean C. 3. Hello Walter, I've got good news and bad news for you. Some of the good news: 1. You are a descendant of Jeremiah DUTTON & Sarah. 2. There are a ton of your relatives in my records, down to and including your father. 3. I can put you in touch with some of your living cousins. 4. I would be happy to exchange data with you. All of the bad news: 1. You are a descendant of Jeremiah DUTTON & Sarah. So far as I know, no one has ever been able to find any parents or birth location for Jeremiah or Sarah's surname. Therefore, all the records for your branch of the family surname DUTTON still reside in my file entitled "Not yet connected DUTTONs." 2. Very definitely, but the attachment could not be sent to the List - one of the basic rules of the rootsweb Lists. They would have to be sent to individuals like Colin sent the pictures of the old DUTTON Manor and then Phyllis forwarded the same ones to some more folks. (What would we do without nice folks like them?) Also there are 296 pages - that's a lot of work. And there are a bunch of pictures and charts that would cause problems. -------------------------Snip----------------------------------------- > Or maybe we could buy this book. 3. Hi everybody... I have received some e-mails requesting further clarification (thanks to all of you for your help). Here's everything I know: I am searching for information on my great-grandfather -- Raymond A. Dutton who was born in 1882 in St. Albans VT. My father recounted a story that to collect Social Security he had to get a number of signed affadavits attesting to his vitals since the St. Albans courthouse had burned down. He is also to have been reputed to be in a 3 way partnership of a New England regional circus! He died in Southbury CT in 1960. He married Dora M. Munson (b: 1885 d: 1962) and had 3 children - Ella (who had no issue), Kenneth (who is said to have had 7 children), and my grandmother, Florence (b: 1/18/1909 d: 4/7/1981). Thanks for any help you can give...

    3. Hi Phyllis and all, Yes!!! I am so happy, Phyllis. Thank you so much for sending that along. I'm going to print it out and put it in my book. And I'm going to use some red ink, too! :-)) Rubrication -- something written or printed in red. Rubric -- in early books or manuscripts, a chapter heading, initial letter, specific sentence, etc. printed or written in red, decorative lettering, etc. Rubricate -- to mark, color, or illuminate with red. You know, I wonder if you could just scan the pages of the book (you were talking about, "The Duttons of Dutton in Cheshire with notes repecting The Sherborne Branch of the Family.") to OCR. Save it as text, then you could zip it up and attach it to email? Dick, do you think that would work? Or maybe we could buy this book. Tony, did you say that you bought this book at higginson.com?
