    3. Thanks, Jim! Another great resource for the Delaware River Valley section of the Old Mine Road is the Nomination form from the National Park Service for the Old Mine Road Historic District in NJ reflecting research through 1980. http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NRHP/Text/80000410.pdf A close reading of the passage from Mathews' "History of Wayne, Pike and Monroe Counties, PA" pub. 1886 defines the area of the Minisink in that text as: "This region from the vicinity of Port Jervis [NY] down to a point *about opposite* the site of Milford was, as heretofore explained, constituted the Minisink precinct." This opposite side of the river from Milford PA is Montague NJ and the passage refers to the double taxation of residents in the Northwest NJ (at present Sussex Co NJ), during the period of the Jersey / New York Line Wars 1701 - 1765. (scroll down) http://www.state.nj.us/dep/njgs/enviroed/newsletter/v5n2.pdf The residents of the Province of Pennsylvania were never taxed by Orange Co, but early PA land records do refer to tracts in the Minisinks / Mennisinks / Menissing as located in Bucks Co on the PA side of the river (later termed Upper Smithfield, in then Northampton Co PA, now Pike & Monroe counties.)
