I had a request for the 1627 marriage record in Amsterdam, of Frederick Lubbertsz and Styntje Jans who moved to the Dutch colonies. I now have a transcription and translation of that 1627 marriage intention, done today. Frederick Lubbertsz and Styntje Jans had a daughter Rebecca Fredericks and/or Lubberts, wife of Jacob Vandergrift (1622-1697). Styntje Jans died, after which Frederick Lubbertsz married Tryntje Hendricks, having two more daughters, Elsje in 1658 and Aeltje in 1660. Tryntje Hendricks had been previously married with Cors Peterson. This marriage record is not yet in Cor Snabel's Amsterdam records on my website, but will be added at the next update. For now, here it is for whoever needs it: 18-09-1627 Frerik Lubbertsz van A out 21 jaer, geen ouders hebben, vertoon~ acte van consent vande schepens & burgemrs deser stede woon~ inde Reestraet & Styntie Jans van Lewert[?], out 25 jaer, wiens moeder voor dese haer consent heeft verclaert woon~ als voorn [signed] Frerick Lubbertsen, [her mark] Source: Stadsarchief Amsterdam (Ondertrouwen), DTB 432, p.364 - Huwelijksintekeningen van de KERK. Translation -EJ (me) this evening (I added extra punctuation and the bracketed comments, etc): Frerik Lubbertsz of Amsterdam, age 21 years, having no parents [living], presenting an act of consent from the aldermen and burgomasters of this city, living in the Reestraet, & Styntie Jans of Lewert[?]*, age 25 years, whose mother previously has declared her consent, living as above [the Reestraet]. [signed] Frerick Lubbertsen, [her mark] Source: Stadsarchief Amsterdam (Ondertrouwen), DTB 432, p.364 - Marriage intention records of the CHURCH. * The first letter of this place-name was unclear. Unsure what and where this town or village was. It might be Leeuwarden, in Friesland province, Netherlands (Frisians pronounce this word differently), or it might be Ruwaard, in province Brabant, Netherlands. If anyone has a record of where Styntje Jans was from, please post that with your source(s). Thanks & best wishes, Liz J
Liz I looked at the record for Stijntjes birthpalce and could it be Verwert, modern Ferwerd in Friesland?
