To insert a plug here for North America, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, has Vermeer, Rembrandt, and other Dutch masterpieces.  Feed your aesthetic senses with these works until you can make it to Holland: http://www.metmuseum.org/search-results?ft=dutch+masters&x=7&y=10 (Of course, the very best painting in the whole world isn't Dutch at all; it's the portrait of "Juan de Pareja" by Velázquez. Sorry, but it's true.
