David, It really sounds to me as though you have tried all the places where, by rights, it should be. Unfortunately, a lot of documents that should be there just aren't, often the work of sticky-fingered souvenir hunters. If there was any real estate transferred by the will, you may find the will quoted in its entirety when the heir eventually releases the property, even fifty years later.
