    1. [DUTCH-COLONIES] Jan Cornelisen van Hoorn Descendant yDNA Tested
    2. Marleen Van Horne
    3. The Van Horne Surname DNA Project is eight years old. At last, we have a documented descendant of Jan Cornelisen van Hoorn in the project, currently being tested. Normally, I would not make an announcement of this kind until all of the test results were in, but Family Tree DNA, familytreedna.com, is currently having its summer sale. The price for many of their tests, including the yDNA tests are available at a reduced price. Over the last eight years we have identified the genetic pedigree of Christian Barentsen and Matthys Cornelissen, the other two immigrants to New Netherland in the 1600s, whose descendants took some version of the Van Hoorn / Van Horn / Van Horne surname. If you are a Van Horne descendant, but do not know which of these men is you immigrant ancestor, we can now tell you to which family you belong. If you have a pedigree identifying your immigrant ancestor as Jan Cornelisen van Hoorn, and you are a male direct paternal line descendant of his, we are now able to confirm your immigrant ancestor. If you have questions, don't hesitate to write me either on the list, or privately at msvnhrn@jps.net. Marleen Van Horne Van Horne Surname DNA Project -- When the people, who made the music of your youth, begin dying of old age, you know that you, too, are old.
