    2. Pam, I'm hoping you (or anyone) have access to the Brooklyn marriaige records as in my Notes for this Abraham Pieters Lott I have, " At Brooklyn "Abram Pieterssen Lot, young man born in Flatbush, and Geertje Jans Dorlant born in Bedfort, had banns proclaimed with the consent of both their parents on 2 Aug 1695." Obviously there's something wrong with this notation? TIA, Cynthia In a message dated 4/1/2007 10:01:24 AM Mountain Daylight Time, pjsears@stratos.net writes: Hi Liz, et al, I accessed "The Lott Family in America" by A. V. Phillips (1942) and on pages 9-10, he gives the family of Abraham Pieters Lott. According to the records of the Jamaica Reformed Dutch Church, he was married 4 times, and had 8 children. All 8 children are mentioned in his will dated 21 Jul 1760 and proved 4 Sep 1766 [WNYHS 7:27]. Abraham Pieters Lott married 1st to Claesje Langestraet and they had 3 sons (Johannes bpt 1695, Pieter bpt 1697 and Abraham, born circa 1699); 2nd to Geertruy Dorlandt by whom he had one son, Isaac bpt 1704; 3rd to Sara (_?_), by whom he had son Jacob bpt 1716; and finally, 4th, to Marytje (_?_), by whom he had son Hendrick bpt 1718, a daughter Geertje bpt 1720 and son, Rem bpt 1722 (all Jamaica Church records). Pieter Lott was baptized at the Jamaica Church on 31 Oct 1697, the "son of Abraham and Claesje Lott" and it was he who married Femmetje Remsen. At the baptism of their son Abraham Lott on 5 Sep 1722 at the New York Reformed Dutch Church, the sponsors were the paternal grandfather, Abraham Lott, and his 4th wife, Marytje (who remains unidentified). The line is not carried forward by Mr. Phillips, and it appears that Abraham Lott was the only child of Pieter Lott and Femmetje Remsen. Pieter Lott and Femmetje Remsen were the sponsors of their grandson Pieter on 2 Sep 1744 at the New York Reformed Dutch Church, the son of Abraham Lott and his first wife Cornelia Rapalje. On 23 May 1753, same church, Pieter Lott and Femmetje Remsen were the sponsors of their granddaughter Femmetje, daughter of Abraham Lott and Jannetje Goelet. 3. Dear Cynthia, On page 218 of "Old First Dutch Reformed Church of Brooklyn, New York: First Book of Records, 1660-1752" the banns between "Abram Pietersen Lot and Geertje Jans Dorlant" are, indeed, given for 2 August 1695, just as you say. On page 451 of the "Flatbush Church Records", edited by David William Voorhees, "Abram Lot and Geertie Lot" had a child baptized on 31 October 1697. The name of the child was not recorded! The sponsors were "Piter Lot and Geertruy". It appears to me that Claesje Langestraet was not Abram Pieter Lot's first wife (as claimed by Mr. Phillips). 3. Hi Cyn, That is exactly what Mr. Phillips said in "The Lott Family in America." He wrote (on page 9): "In printed works this date is given as Aug. 2, 1695, but there must be a mistake in transcribing the Church Records." Beyond that, he made no attempt to resolve this issue, and I don't have the Brooklyn or Jamaica records. Continuing on page 9, Mr. Phillips wrote: Jan Lott was baptized at Jamaica 25 Apr 1695: "Jan Lott, son of Abraham and Claesje Langstraet" sp: Dirk Langestraet & Johanna Havens Pieter Lott was baptized at Jamaica 31 Oct 1697: "son of Abraham and Claesje Lott" Isaac Lott was baptized at Jamaica 27 Oct 1704 (son of Abram and 2nd wife): sp Gerrit Dorlandt and Catharyntie Lodt Jacob Lott was baptized at Jamaica 24 Jun 1716: "son of Abraham and Sara Lodt" sp: Douwe Van Ditmarse and Marytie Dorlandt Hendrick Lott was baptized at Jamaica 21 Sep 1718: (Abraham & wife Marytje) sp: Abraham Lodt and Cornelia Lodt Geertje Lott was baptized at Jamaica 10 Sep 1720: "daughter of Abraham and Marytie" sp: Pitter Lot and Femmetie Lot Rem Lott was baptized 25 Jul at Jamaica 25 Jul 1722: "son of Abrame and Maritie Lot" sp: Chrystaganus Lupardus and Antie Dorlandt Regards, Pam CMiddaughZuber@aol.com wrote: > Pam, > > I'm hoping you (or anyone) have access to the Brooklyn marriaige records > as in my Notes for this Abraham Pieters Lott I have, " At Brooklyn > "Abram Pieterssen Lot, young man born in Flatbush, and Geertje Jans > Dorlant born in Bedfort, had banns proclaimed with the consent of both > their parents on 2 Aug 1695."
