Are they Leeks or Lotts? The bottom line is that the baptismal records given by Mr. Phillips in "The Lott Family in America" (1942) where the mother is shown to be Claesje Langestraet, are Leeks (or, perhaps Lakes). However, Abraham Lott and his 1st wife Geertruy Jans Dorlandt did have sons named Jan, Peter and Abraham, but the baptismal records have not survived. Keep in mind that the Jamaica Church records only begin in 1702. Abraham Pieters Lott and Geertruy Jans Dorlandt married 2 Aug 1695 in Brooklyn, so we must conclude that the above named sons were born sometime between 1695 and 1704 (when Isaac was bpt at Jamaica). The possible exception _MAY BE_ the record in Brooklyn of perhaps Peter, the "unnamed" child [and thanks to Dorothy & Howard we have the following): > On page 451 of the "Flatbush Church Records", edited by David > William Voorhees, "Abram Lot and Geertie Lot" had a child baptized > on 31 October 1697. All the rest of my estate I leave to my children. I make my sons, Peter, John, and Rem, executors. Dated July 21, 1760. 3. Hi all, Just to add one additional detail from the correction item that Larry mentioned: NYGBR "Additions and Corrections," Vol. 83, No 4 (October 1952), p. 238. The above note adds: "An unnamed child of Abraham and Geertje Lott was baptised in the Dutch Church in Flatbush Oct. 31, 1697, but in a collection of baptisms marked 'Endorsed Baptismal Records,' in the 'Miscellaneous Papers of the town of Faltbush in the Dutch Language, 1658-1799' in the Hall of Records in Brooklyn, there appears the record of a baptism on this date with the child's name entered as Peter." The intro to Voorhees' Flatbush records book (p. xxix) says that the baptism records at Flatbush have not survived for this time period and that he has added info "from manuscriopt pages of the Flatbush Town Records". Then on p. 448 is added a note before the baptisms for 1695-1699 that they were from "the Flatbush Town Records, Misc. Vol. I, 1652-1708, pp. 227-34, 237" (Which I failed to note in my previous message.) What is strange is that the above NYGBR correction was written before Voorhees' book. So did the 1698 HSYB Onderdonck version or the van Cleef version also add in these town records? And somehow Mrs. Spell (who wrote the correction) seems to have found a ms. that has the name Pieter that was not on the the ms. that Mr. Voorhees used or in either earlier publication? Anyway, no bap. record has been found for John and Abraham, apparently. Regards, Howard hswain@ix.netcom.com From: "Pamela J.
