Hi everyone As many of you know, I have an ongoing project to reconstruct the names of passengers sailing from Netherlands to New Netherland in the 1600s. The project has been online for a few years, and can be seen at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/nn/ships/ I've been slowly reconstructing ships' passenger lists from various source (see webpage for details) and am providing these lists online as I complete them. In some cases, I've been able to reconstruct names for a ship list that has never been published before! In other cases, I've been able to add names to previously published lists. So far I have 81 ships - and many new names previously unknown. A few days ago I came across another name of a settler who arrived on Blauwe Duiff (Blue Dove) which arrived 5 Sept. 1656 in New Netherland. I just wanted to remind everyone that the project is still alive and well and being added to as I find names in other primary sources. The Blauwe Duiff list can be found at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/nn_bluedove1656.shtml It's never been published to my knowledge, and so far I've only found names of 2 passengers but it's a start. Remember, there are no passenger lists as we know them, for these ships. The only records of passengers is from the WIC Account Book showing who owed money on arrival. So the addition of names from other primary sources is a slow, but important, piece of the puzzle. I welcome additions to the existing lists *but* please don't send me a name and tell me that your Aunt Harriet swore your ancestor arrived on this ship -- or that you found it on someone's submitted family tree online. I'm only accepting names that have verification such as court records.. you can see what I've used so far for proof on the webpage at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/nn/ships/ Enjoy and I hope you find an ancestor or two Lorine -- Olive Tree Genealogy http://olivetreegenealogy.com
Lorine....I discovered Olive Tree Site several years ago and I love it!!! So much good information there and lots of hard work to get it there!!! I might mention that if one is researching ancestors in early Ohio that there is a site called digitalshoebox.com that has a lot of good historical and genealogical info about this area.
