Hi Liz, The Abraham Lott you show below was the son of the Pieter Lott who REALLY was married to Femmetje Remsen. Pieter Lott, who married Sarah Teunis Covert, was the son of Hendrick Pieters Lott and Catrina Pieters DeWitt. Pieter Lott, who married Femmetje Remsen, was the son of Abraham Pieters Lott of Jamaica, but I have never found a reliable source that positively identifies his wife. Abraham Lott of Jamaica left a will dated 21 Jul 1760 and proved 4 Sep 1766 [WNYHS 7:27] in which his son Peter was named an executor and numerous other children. The family of this Abraham Lott (1722-1794) has been addressed by Howard S. Randolph in "Jacob Boelen, Goldsmith, and His Family Circle" [NYG&BR 72:281] and A. V. Phillips in "The Lott Family in America" (1942) but neither were totally correct. Barbara A. Barth corrected some major errors in the NYG&B Record (Oct 2000) on pages 291-292 of Vol. 131. Abraham Lott, son of Pieter, was baptized at the New York Reformed Dutch Church on 5 Sep 1722 [Pieter Lott, Femmetje Remse; Abram; Abram & Marytje Lott] and he married 3 times. Abraham Lott married (1st) about 1743 to Cornelia Rapalje, the daughter of Joris Rapalje and Dina Middagh. Cornelia is mentioned as the wife of Abraham Lott in the unrecorded will of her father, Joris Rapalje of Brooklyn, dated 4 Sep 1745, proved 13 Mar 1764 [WNYHS 11:185]. Abraham Lott and Cornelia Rapalje baptized 2 children in the NY RDC: Peter, 2 Sep 1744 and Joris, 1 Feb 1747. Cornelia Rapalje was buried 3 Mar 1748 [HSYB 1899:176]. Abraham Lott married (2nd) on 9 May 1751 [NY license dated 8 Mar 1751] in the NY DRC to Jannetje Goelet, baptized there 31 Jan 1731, the daughter of Philippus Goelet and Catharine Boelin. Abraham Lott and Jannetje Goelet baptized 3 children in the NY RDC: Philippus on 5 Feb 1752, Phebe on 23 May 1753, and Pieter on 25 Aug 1756. Jannetje Goelet's date of death is unknown, but it was before 1763. Abraham Lott married (3rd) on 8 May 1763 [NY license dated 28 Apr 1763] in the NY DRC to Maria Van Alstyne, the widow of Abraham Van Wyck. Maria Van Alstyne was the daughter of Mattheus Van Alstyne, and was buried 8 Jan 1792 [HSYB 1899:176]. Abraham P. Lott of New York executed his will on 8 Apr 1793 (no probate) [WNYHS 11:212]; mention is made of his deceased daughter Phebe; her husband Rev. Isaac Blauvelt; and son Philip and his wife Mary [Kearney], and several granchildren. He was buried 26 Feb 1794 [Ibid]. Sorry, but I know nothing of the Abraham Lott who married Jane Hendrickson. Regards, Pam Sears > In an attempt to narrow the field of possible fathers for 'my' Henry > LOTT, I looked for an Abraham Lott who married 1750-1770 in NY. Hi Pam, Wow! Nothing like nailing three out of the four...and all with the same husband! Thank you! That's a great help at narrowing the possibilities. Now to see what I can find out about Jane Hendrickson...probably like looking for that infamous needle in the haystack! Many thanks! Your info is a huge help! Liz
Dear all, I found something in my notes that may clarify this discussion. This from NYGBR "Additions and Corrections," Vol. 83, No 4 (October 1952), p. 238, citing HSYB 1897,:143, 150. "Abraham Lott Jr. was married only three times, and not four times as given in NYGBR 82:116, No. 101. The statement that his first wife was Claesje Longstreet is in error. He married first Geertje Dorland who ws baptized 19 August 1674, in the Dutch Church in Brooklyn, a daughter of Jan Gerritsen and Ann Remsen Dorland. Her marriage is recorded in the same church as follows: "Aug. 2, 1695, Abram Pieterse Lott, young man born at Flatbush, to Geertje Jans Dorland, maiden born at Bedford. Were betrothed with the consent of the bride's and the groom's parents." The wording indicates no previous marriages (HSYB:1897:143 & 150)." Larry, et al: If it is true that Abraham was not married to Claesje Longstreet, then to whom do the children, Johannes (Jan) b. 1696, Peter b. 1697, and Abraham Jr. b. 1700, belong? Are they Leeks or Lotts? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Voreis" <lvoreis@charter.net> To: <dutch-colonies@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 01, 2007 4:20 PM Subject: Re: [DUTCH-COLONIES] Another Abraham LOTT puzzle > Dear all, > > I found something in my notes that may clarify this discussion.
