Hello Is any one familiar with dutch boats or ships from the seventeenth century? I’m looking for information on a caegschuyt (caechschuyt, kaechschuyt), what exactly was it? I’ve seen reference to their operators being called cagenaer\kagenaer or caechskippers. I found a definition for Schuyt as a flat bottomed vessel so would like any detail about what it was used for. Was it for fishing in the shallow waters or was it used as a barge for ferrying cargo? I find vessel mentioned at Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland in the 1600’s. Thanks for your help. Look up 'ketch' on Wikipedia. I think it has to do with how the sails are arranged.
