There is definately something wrong here Willard. Symon Symons [both father and son] De Groot/Groot are MALES as is Jacob Aertse Wagenaar. The parents of Symon Sr. are not known. He came to New Netherland in the service of the West India Company as a boatswain on the ship Prince Maurice before 1645. Symon's wife was Rebecca Du Traux/Trieux, daughter of Philip Du Traux/Trieux. CMZ, In trying to find the parents of my ancestor Aert Jacobsen Van Wagenen (1620 - 6 Jun 1667 Kingston, Ulster, New York) who married Annatje Gerrits (1624-1666 NY). I'm a rookie at genealogical research, and don't the Dutch language, and the naming system is baffling. I'm in need of assistance which goes without saying. I'm following two new leads since I posted the email you noticed: Lead 1 *"Jacob Aertsz* >From Utrech; referred to as *Jacob Aertsz Wagenaer,* and also as *Jacob Adriansz Wagenaer* (the wagoner): sailed on den Calmer Sleutel, Dec. 1637, at the age of 25, as farm servant for Albert Andriesz. He served for 1 1/4 years at the Manhatans and June 26, 1639, began his service in the colony, for the term of six years, at wages ranging from f90 to f120 a year. He is charged in the accounts with supplies furnished by Albert Andriesz, but is entered as servant of Cornelis Maesen. April 2, 1648, the court ordered him to serve Evert Pels for one year, so as to complete his term. Feb. 23, 1649, he appeared before the court on the charge of having the preceding day, with Jacob Adriaensz Raedemaecker (wheelwright) and Harmen Bastiaensz, prevented Director van Slichtenhorst from arresting Jacob Toenijs, servant of Jan Verbeeck, in the *Greenen Bos"* * * *http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycoloni/shcs.html* * * Lead 2 I think there's a possible lead in 'Settlers of Rensselaerwyck 1630-1658', excerpted from The Van Rensselaer Bowie Manuscripts, edited by A. J. F. Van Laer. I will start looking into the text of this book as soon as possible. I appreciate your kindness in writing to me.
