    3. Jim & Jeremy, Yes, Maria Prys/Paree had a brother Caspar. Jacob J. Hallenbeck also had a brother Caspar. Good surmise, Maria Paree's mother was Engeltje Hallenbeck baptised Schenectady Reformed, pg. 32, #691, 1725, 1.2. Engeltje, of Casper Halendyck [Halenbeck] and Maritie Evertse. Witnesses Simens Veder, Volckie Veders. Maybe Maria Halsey was "of New Salem"? The 1794 baptism is sponsored by Chasper Pare and Jannitje Pare. Casper Parys was baptized at Zion, Loonenburg 26 Jul 1747 (b. 6 Jul); son of Niclas Parys & Engeltje, sponsors Casper Halenbek & Mary. His sister Maria was bapt. 22 Jul 1750 at Zion, (b. 6 Jul); sponsors were Yzaak Parys & sis. Barentje. Niclas Parys/Pare & Engeltje baptized other children at Loonenburg or Coxsackie: Annetje 1745, Rebecca 1752, Johannes 1756, Elisabeth 1760, Barentje 1764. I don't know if Niclas' wife Engeltje was a Hallenbeck, but clearly there was a close relationship between the 2 families before Jacob H. md. Maria . - Niclas Parys & Engeltje also sponsored Engeltje, the daughter of Jan H. Hallenbeck & Hendrickje in 1749. Jeremy, you probably know that there were at least 3 other Casper Hallenbecks baptized in Greene Co. in the 1790's: sons of Joachim & Annatje in 1797 and 1798 at Coxsackie, and a son of Johannes & Catharine Froelich in 1799 at Athens. I don't see a marriage record for Jacob H. & Maria P., but it would seem they were both local to Athens/Coxsackie, although New Salem is only 20 miles or so up the road. Where did the "of New Salem" come from? Hallenbeck and Maria Paree? Caspar was a very popular name in the Hallenbeck family, but that's been my thought also. I don't have anything further on his siblings that might confirm that though. I am not sure, but one of the children of Maria and Jacob could be the connection I am looking for to break through my Hallenbeck brick wall... Here is the info I have about my Hallenbeck brick wall... Casper J. Hallenbeck was born c. 1793 and married to Maria Halsey (Halsted?), b. c. 1805. They were married 1 Jan 1825 in the Reformed Church in Bethlehem, NY. They are buried in the Limestreet (Collechburh) Cemetery in West Athens, NY. Casper and Maria had the following children: Magdaline (b. 3 Jan 1826), William T. (c. 1834), Jane Ann (b. 27 Jul 1837) and James R. (my 3x g-grandfather, b. 31 Aug 1839). I have information from there down to me, but I have not been able to trace back any farther than Casper or Maria. Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated!
