Hi Bill...have seen other of your postings but didn't know you had Conklins....mine do go back a far piece.....to one that married a Riker....got to check my stuff and some sites to put it in perspective. Hi Bill......my line is from Abraham and Elizabeth Conklin Riker.......Gerardus was one of several children......give me a minute and I will track down the other kids for you.....ok.....got it... Jan/John Riker and Geertie Wiltsee had a son Abraham who married Elizabeth Conkllin.....their children were Abraham [1721-1820] married Elizabeth Conklin Deborah [1725-?]married Daniel Martine Tunis [10/6/1726-?] Margrietje [1727-1819] married Cornelius Blauvelt Maria/Polly 1729-?] married Johannes/John Bell Elizabeth [1732-?] married Elizabeth Blauvelt Catherine [1733-?] married John Saunders John/Jan [1736-1828] married Margrietje Blauvelt Haring Gerardus [1740-1781 KY] married Rachel Demaree I descend from Abraham and Elizabeth through their daughter, Maria/Polly who was born 1760 and died 1838....she married John Banta, son of Hendrick Banta 3rd and his second wife, Antie Demarest and with her husband and seven of their nine children, would join the Shaker religious society when it formed in Kentucky 1805. The first Shaker meeting in KY was at their barn located in Henry County, KY near Pleasureville. Their daughter, also names Maria/Polly would marry Francis Montfort Jr and with him, join the Shakers with two children and a third on the way....my cousin and I call this one, the Last Fling.....he is my 3rd grandfather,David Montfort who was raised a Shaker till just before his 21st birthday in 1827 when he left the society. Six years laterl he would marry Mary Cook, a great grandniece of Daniel Boone. I found most of the info online www.Rockleigh.org but was also given the same info through the Riker Historical Society. I believe my 4th great grandmother, Polly Riker Montfort most likely came with her uncle Gerardus when he came to Kentucky......and others of the Low Dutch Colony that began coming to Mercer, Shelby and Henry Counties in KY in 1780 from Conewago Colony in York County, PA. Other information came through a Riker descendant who shared much of the same info as I have included here. I looked for particular sources but found only Tappan Church Records noted on several of the births. Sources are listed more frequently with the info on the Conklin family which was also found at the above website. I can attest to the info on the Shakers and Banta/Riker/Montfort connections as I have personally researched that and have sources for everything on that part of my family tree.
