Hi Jeremy, You're supposing the Caspar J. born circa 1793 is the one baptised 22 Feb 1794 son of Jacob J. Hallenbeck and Maria Paree? Caspar was a very popular name in the Hallenbeck family, but that's been my thought also. I don't have anything further on his siblings that might confirm that though. I am not sure, but one of the children of Maria and Jacob could be the connection I am looking for to break through my Hallenbeck brick wall... Here is the info I have about my Hallenbeck brick wall... Casper J. Hallenbeck was born c. 1793 and married to Maria Halsey (Halsted?), b. c. 1805. They were married 1 Jan 1825 in the Reformed Church in Bethlehem, NY. They are buried in the Limestreet (Collechburh) Cemetery in West Athens, NY. Casper and Maria had the following children: Magdaline (b. 3 Jan 1826), William T. (c. 1834), Jane Ann (b. 27 Jul 1837) and James R. (my 3x g-grandfather, b. 31 Aug 1839). I have information from there down to me, but I have not been able to trace back any farther than Casper or Maria. Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated! Jeremy & Jim, The census data, including 1855 which shows Casper J. born in Greene Co., would certainly match best with the "Chasper" baptized at Coxsackie in 1794, but the name seems to have come indirectly from the Hallenbecks through the brother of Maria Paree. The 1794 baptism is sponsored by Chasper Pare and Jannitje Pare. Casper Parys was baptized at Zion, Loonenburg 26 Jul 1747 (b. 6 Jul); son of Niclas Parys & Engeltje, sponsors Casper Halenbek & Mary. His sister Maria was bapt. 22 Jul 1750 at Zion, (b. 6 Jul); sponsors were Yzaak Parys & sis. Barentje. Niclas Parys/Pare & Engeltje baptized other children at Loonenburg or Coxsackie: Annetje 1745, Rebecca 1752, Johannes 1756, Elisabeth 1760, Barentje 1764. I don't know if Niclas' wife Engeltje was a Hallenbeck, but clearly there was a close relationship between the 2 families before Jacob H. md. Maria P. - Niclas Parys & Engeltje also sponsored Engeltje, the daughter of Jan H. Hallenbeck & Hendrickje in 1749. Jeremy, you probably know that there were at least 3 other Casper Hallenbecks baptized in Greene Co. in the 1790's: sons of Joachim & Annatje in 1797 and 1798 at Coxsackie, and a son of Johannes & Catharine Froelich in 1799 at Athens. I don't see a marriage record for Jacob H. & Maria P., but it would seem they were both local to Athens/Coxsackie, although New Salem is only 20 miles or so up the road. Where did the "of New Salem" come from? There was also a Caspar (Jasper) Hallenbeck -24 Oct 1793-3 Oct 1833- who married Maria Bratt (18 Sep 1797-7 Mar 1875)...she is buried in the Glenville Reformed Church Cemetery. Also there is her son, Jacob J. Hallenbeck (11 Dec 1815-6 Aug 1858) and his wife, Margaret Van Duesen (13 Jan 1821-19 Dec 1898). This Hallenbeck line hailed from the Berne, Albany Co., area, but had moved to the Glenville area and farmed there. As has been said, Jasper/Caspar and Jacob are all common names in the Hallenbeck family line. Good luck! Jeremy, Another clue that may be helpful- although the marriage record for Casper J. Hallenbeck and Maria Halsey is in the book, "People of the Town of Bethlehem-Albany County, New York 1698-1880"..published by the Bethlehem Historical Association, looking for the records of their childrens' baptismal records turns up nothing. Either they removed to another location soon after marriage or else baptised in a different church that may have been closer to home for them. BTW-anyone with ancesors in the Bethlehem area would love and cherish the above named book with I just purchased and was mailed to me by the Bethlehem Hist. Association.....it was a bargain at under $20 and is of top quality. The Hist. Soc. had them on sale price!! ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Brady" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 23, 2011 12:01 PM Subject: Re: [DUTCH-COLONIES] Maria Pare(e) and Jacob Hallenbeck > Hi Jeremy, > > You're supposing the Caspar J. born circa 1793 is the one baptised 22 Feb > 1794 son of Jacob J.
