Can someone please check for me a baptismal record in the Schenectady DRC, 9 Dec. 1798, for Claara, child of Neeltje Schermerhorn and Harmannus Van Slyke. The father's name is upside down. I hadn't known, until told, that this meant an illegitimate birth. What I had was Neeltje's own New Testament, where she listed her children. Claara is listed there as her first, without a last name or a father, unlike her later children. A number of years ago, someone on this list got this record for me from Kelly. I was a newbie, and I didn’t write down the number from Kelly, or the names of the sponsors. I do remember that at the time I didn’t recognize the names; now that I’ve done more research and have more of Neeltje’s relatives, they may be more meaningful. And now I know the importance of having Kelly’s number, just for future reference. I've got all the children from her marriage to Hendrick Bastiaanse accounted for, Kelly's numbers, sponsors and all, so I just need Claara's. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thanks, Doris Waggoner ____________________________________________________________ Obama Urges Homeowners to Refinance If you owe under $729k you probably qualify for Obama's Refi Program http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4d3622c62a3cbc540a5st03vuc
> Can someone please check for me a baptismal record in the Schenectady DRC, 9 Dec. 1798, for Claara, Since the original question has been answered, I will mention that there are some transcriptions of church records linked from the Churches section at the Schenectady Digital History Archive: <http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/churches/index.html> This includes Betty Fink's collections from the Dutch churches of Schenectady, Princetown and other places; Robert Billard's extracts from Pearson's genealogies; Channon Moon's work with the First Reformed Church of Scotia; and Cliff Lamere's set from St. George's Episcopal. There are also many links to various church histories from the church sites and books I've put online. -- Bob Sullivan Schenectady Digital History Archive <http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/> Schenectady County (NY) Public Library
