Hi Barb, Good sleuthing, and it appears you have finally identified the second wife of Rev. Cornelius Cozine. My question involves the identification of Andries Van Norden, born circa 1760, as the son of Stephen Van Orden and Maria Koning and the husband of Elizabeth Town (daughter of John). Although no baptismal record has been found, it would be a very tight fit for him to have been born in 1760 since his parents married 31 May 1760 in Schraalenburgh, and their first child of record was born 13 May 1761 and subsequently baptized at Schraalenburgh on 17 May 1761. [It is likely that Rachel, the daughter, was conceived in August of 1760.] Records of the Reformed Dutch churches of Hackensack and Schraalenburgh, New Jersey [New York] :: Printed for the Society,, 1891, p 146 B 13 May, Bpt 17 May 1761; Rachel, child of Stephen Van Orden, Marytje Koning; wit: Jan Van Orden, Rachel, his wife [the witnesses were the paternal grandparents] More importantly, this proposed Andries Van Orden [son of Stephen] and his wife Elizabeth Town did not name a son Stephen, after the paternal grandfather. Rather, I believe this Andries/Andrew Van Orden was the son of Petrus Van Orden and his wife Geertje Snyder who married at Schraalenburgh on 7 March 1751 [page 47 of the published records]. This Andries Van Orden was born 3 August 1756 at Schraalenburgh and baptized there as follows: Records of the Reformed Dutch churches of Hackensack and Schraalenburgh, New Jersey [New York] :: Printed for the Society,, 1891, p 135 Born 3 Aug, Bpt 8 Aug 1756; Andries, child of Petrus Van Orden and Geertie Snyder; wit: Andries Van Orden, Gerrebreghie Ackerman Andries Van Orden & Geertje Snyder had the following 11 children, all baptized at Clarkstown: Antje, baptized 7 September 1780 [wit: Antje Van Orden] John, baptized 13 March 1782 Geertje, baptized 2 August 1783 Petrus, baptized 7 January 1785 Catrina, baptized 17 March 1787 Elizabeth, baptized 15 November 1788 Auny, baptized 19 December 1790 Maria, baptized 21 January 1793 Andrew, baptized 13 May 1797 Susanna, baptized 25 September 1799 Sarah, baptized 4 September 1801 John Town may have named his son-in-law [Andrew Van Orden] in his will, but he did not specify just who this Andrew Van Orden was the son of. And, the only baptismal witness of record [above] was "Antje Van Orden" who was probably the sister of Andries/Andrew, also baptized at Schraalenburgh: Records of the Reformed Dutch churches of Hackensack and Schraalenburgh, New Jersey [New York] :: Printed for the Society,, 1891, p 143 B 13 Nov, Bpt 16 Dec 1759; Antye, child of Petrus Van Orden, Gertruy Snyder; wit: Andries Van Orden, Jannetye, his wife [this Andries Van Orden was the brother of Petrus; thus, the paternal uncle] 1800 Will of John Town, father of Elizabeth Town, Abstracts of wills of Rockland Co., NY, Liber A. of Wills.
