Kathy - Do you have the names of the children who were raised by the grandparents? Or where they were raised? While I am searching for "Joseph DURKIN" I have a feeling that perhaps Joseph was his Saint's name? I am not Catholic, but I understand that each child is given a Saint's name when baptized, maybe he liked that name better than his given name. In the records in Park City, UT, he is referred to as JOE Durkin. I have other family names in this same line who came from Canada - London, Ont, and settled in Jefferson County, NY.
